As individuals, the candidates usually aren't that far apart, well off, premier schools, career politicians, well connected and funded. The real test is the kind o administration they'll install and who will they listen to (or will they listen at all).

Anyone that thinks any Repub will have a progressive administration is posting on the wrong board. Any Dem will have inherent strengths and weaknesses, but will have a vastly more progressive cabinet and administration to work with. The only way to return from the brink is to make it clear that the Republics have lost their way and to put their "base" back in the attic (or "basement") where the crackpot crazies belong instead of making policy for our nation.
