Hillary, please put a halt to this dumb new seatbelt legislation proposed for NY state
where starting this July seat belts will be mandatory on motorcycles, bicycles, and smaller pleasure boats.

This is going way too far. There have to be better ways for big corporations to make money than something like this. I often defend you on this board, so please do what you can to help us out. As the avid fisherman that I am, I just can't see the logic in buckling up in my boat whenever I'm on my way to a favorite fishing spot this summer.

This is crazy.

One other thing. The many members of my niece's mountain bike club strongly disapprove of future seat belt use being mandatory on their bikes, and these people pack a lot of political clout.

88. Indeed ...
One the best things that can happen to you when you are in a motorcycle crash is to get away from the bike.
A seat belt on a motorcycle will increase fatalities dramatically.

I will bet this is a hoax

It came back with a bunch of bizarro website and anti-hillary sites. Heck one of the links had something about Hillary, Seatbelts and the 2nd coming of Christ.

Not trying to be disrespectful to you, but we get too many posts about trivial things that supposedly are link to Hillary, Obama or any of the other potential democratic candidates (but especially the first 2).

Sen. Clinton is NOT part of the NY state legislature, she is a US Senator. If this issue is real then perhaps you should be petitioning your state senators & representatives or Gov. Spitzer. Perhaps the New York forum would be a better location for this thread

20. The thing that worries me is what if a dog comes after you?
Usually when I'm out bike riding, if I can see the dog coming early enough, I usually only have a split second or two to get off the bike and climb a tree to avoid getting bit. Now I'm gonna have to climb the tree with the bike dangling below me from my seatbelt if I don't have time to unbuckle? I don't think so.

56. A seatbelt on a MOTORCYCLE??? That's hysterical!
What brainiac came up with that one? OMG...:rofl::rofl:

A seatbelt on a boat is downright DANGEROUS! When I was 6 years old, my family was out on our boat. 4 kids with mom and dad. The boat tipped over and my sister was trapped underneath it, but had an airhole to breath until my dad could swim under to pull her out. The rest of us landed beyond the boat. All of us were ok, but if we had had on seatsbelts, surely we all would have drown! You can't expect a 4, 6, 10 and 11 year old kid to NOT PANIC in a situation like that. This law is not only STUPID, but dangerous!

59. Are You Trolling, Trying To Make Some Sort Of Idiotic Point, Or Slamming Clinton?
Edited on Fri Jan-19-07 11:44 AM by Beetwasher
Because this post is total bullshit. Either you are trying to make some sort of joke (and it's not a good one), or you're (badly) trying to make some sort of obtuse point, or you're trying to slam Clinton (also badly) or you're a troll.

There is no such law being proposed in NY. You are full of shit.

73. Trolling is the most boring style of fishing going. I ususally drift fish or cast lures.
I rarely troll. Usually I'll take my boat to a "hotspot" in the lake or river and then drift, while bouncing a jig off bottom. There is no finesse in trolling. For anyone who doesn't know what trolling is, it's fishing while the boat is moving at a slow speed, pulling lures or bait behind the boat. There is very little skill involved when trolling, other than picking the right area and depth of water in which to troll.

In the evenings, I'll move closer to the shoreline and cast plugs toward the shore. Trolling just isn't for me.

87. You are right. Laws requiring seat belts on boats is not a joking matter
and I hope it doesn't go through, although I remember this one time I hit a wave from a ship when I wasn't looking and banged my head onto the windshield, so maybe in that one instance a seat belt would've helped, even though I only got a little bump out of it.

64. I guess I should've asked someone else to help thwart the law, then,
but I'm a fan of Hillary's so I thought I would've tried there first.

This must be a joke thread.

What would ever make you think that?

76. If you think it'll be dangerous for bikers, imagine how kayakers will feel
What if they don't go all the way around when they're doing one of their Eskimo Rolls in the water? I'd hate to think that they'd have to unbuckle their seat belt in order to free themselves from their capsized kayak, yikes.

And even with link, what part of state legislature (assuming this is true) cannot be truly influenced by a US Senator are you missing?

83. It's absolute BS. The NYS legislature has NO bills about this.
It's been mentioned on a few RW anti-Hillary blogs and that's it. I can't believe this thread is still up.

If they're right here in this thread, then show me the way!

The only links I saw when I reviewed this thread are just links leading to plain old anti-Hillary sites, but they don't associate her with being involved with what we're talking about here.
