These are the last throes of the Bush administration
We The People have set a time table for withdrawal

Bush and Cheney, out of the White House IMMEDIATELY

We will rise up until you stand down

It is a matter of national security

(I like these frames for turning their words around on them and illustrating OUR escalation of resistance)

12. Not magic - hold a sign up on the Today Show
I'm sure we could come up with lots of ways to push these frames into the MSM so let's make your hope come true

Let's use every opportunity possible to reinforce these frames so that they become the perception of the majority.

3. Happy to be the fifth rec. Bush is behaving like one who knows he's
on the way out.

I recently heard on the radio someone talking about the Bush administration in the past tense. It was very powerful.

5. Yes, exactly, perfect.
Talking about them in the past tense is the same sort of framing I'm suggesting in the OP. We want to shift the perception of the size, strength, correctness, and necessity of our resistance.

15. Thanks
I've been wearing these around for a week or so and have gotten almost no comments. Except one person who read it out loud and pronounced Gandhi in a way that rhymed with "candy," rather than "Condi." She liked the button.

9. A thread that dovetails nicely with this one
with OP by Will Pitts:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x3107946

It includes such lovely statements as, "THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION HAS FINALLY AND COMPLETELY COLLAPSED."

and, "They are routed, outmatched and totally checkmated."

19. Right. Just like the Iraq insurgency was "in its last throes", per Cheney.
On what do you base your assessment?

You say, "Bush and Cheney, out of the White House IMMEDIATELY" -- who's going to make them leave? Us? Are the angry villagers going to march on the White House with pitchforks and torches?

Who's going to stop the Bushies from doing whatever the hell they want?

The orders for deployment for the "surge" have already gone out to the troops. More carrier groups are on the way to the Persian Gulf. Cross-border raids into Iran have already been authorized. The war on Iran is ginning up quite nicely.

Do you think anyone is going to put the brakes on this shit? Who? Our intrepid Congresscritters? Just watch, one "incident" implicating Iran (manufactured or not), and the new war will be on and NO one in our government is going to stop it.

It's not the Bush Administration that's in its "last throes", it's our Constitution and our Democratic Republic.

21. Our frames
Saying these are the last throes of the Bush administration is not meant as an assessment. It is part of the great framing battle. It is going to be up to We The People to make any revolutionary change occur and I submit this must begin with our belief in where things currently stand.

We have to advance the thinking of the majority of the population to the point where it is understood our resistance has escalated sufficiently for this reign of terror to be seen as near an end. You can poo-poo this idea if you like but hopefully you will agree that Americans are now far more outspoken against this admin than they were each of the years prior to this one. Can we consciously stoke that or do you think it should be left to happen on its own?

So as the masses continue to stand up, stronger and more steadfast, why not provide them with memes that will be repeated, reinforced, and eventually reflected in media only to add further reinforcement? This is how the perception of the status quo gets changed. It is central to the propaganda strategies used against us and it is time we use the same concepts to our advantage.

22. Okay, I get what you're saying. But I think using "last throes" in particular is an iffy proposition
I mean what's the most well-known quote about "last throes" around? The Cheney quote from a couple years ago about the Iraq insurgency.

I'd be careful with that one lest it turn out to be as valid and true as Cheney's declaration of "last throes". See what I mean?

23. I do see what you mean
But I'm not dissuaded. If anything, I think beyond reaffirming our escalation, the "last throes" comment is mocking them. This too is part of propaganda strategy. Show that their words are not to be taken seriously and instead can be used against them. This is one way to diffuse their power which clearly has exceeded that of their ill-begotten offices. We must extend this and look for other ways to undermine their authority - refusing to cooperate and withdrawing our complicity and Consent. Have you seen Freedom to Fascism? Here is a link to watch it on Google.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4312730277175242198

The first 50 minutes of the film are devoted to demonstrating there is no law that compels us to pay income tax. It is time that we build a national tax strike movement. It may be hard to convince everyone that all the bad things that have happened to us are our fault (and they're not), but if we want these things to stop then we have to own the responsibility for making them stop. Otherwise, we are Consenting to and complicit in the continuation. So, another meme I encourage you to adopt is We Do Not Consent.

24. On second thought , regarding assessments
I said this wasn't meant as an assessment, but for anyone who might take it that way, that is good for us. Any attempt to catalog current events *should* lead to a grim assessment, and where it doesn't there is someone alien to the reality-based community. Embrace them and make them feel welcome here.

You may be right that there is an assessment implicit in using these frames. The assessment does not require constant validation by reciting examples. Stick your finger in the breeze. At this point, that's what we're aiming at, the general impression, the consensus perspective, the conventional wisdom.

That these guys must go NOW is our message, telling our fellow citizens it is time to escalate resistance and expectations of results. This assessment aspect you raise is reading between the lines. Tease it out or not, either way works for us.

26. I like the sound of..
President Pelosi.

That is what we are ultimately saying, right?

Of course, if America is not really ready for a woman President, the congress can select a new Majority leader. Who else sounds good?: President _______ (fill in the blank)

Just dreaming here, but imagine if, say, Al Gore was appointed as a congressman in Tennesee, and he was then voted in as Majority leader?

Why, he'd then be President, eh?.... Just 6 years late.
