Did the President Declare "Secret War" Against Syria and Iran?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/steve-clemons/did-the-president-declare_b_38451.html

Washington intelligence, military and foreign policy circles are abuzz today with speculation that the President, yesterday or in recent days, sent a secret Executive Order to the Secretary of Defense and to the Director of the CIA to launch military operations against Syria and Iran.

The President may have started a new secret, informal war against Syria and Iran without the consent of Congress or any broad discussion with the country.

The bare outlines of that order may have appeared in President Bush's Address to the Nation last night outlining his new course on Iraq:

13. Should Kennedy have been impeached if he'd agreed to "Operation Northwoods"?
JFK averted a nuclear war over the "Cuban Missile Crisis". Had he lived, there would have been no "Vietnam" (refer NSM#263).

Bush is the "anti-JFK"!

LET'S FACE IT... THE WAR PARTY HAS BEEN IN CHARGE FOR QUITE A WHILE NOW!!! Who in their right mind would want to impeach a sitting president over whether he told the truth or not about receiving ahead job?

9. Calm down there.
20,000 soldiers aren't enough to invade Kentucky with, to say nothing of Iran AND Syria.

16. The AF and Navy already have sufficient forces
in the region. The extra carrier group deployed to the Gulf? That's to threaten Iran with bombing. Would you mind explaining exactly what role 20,000 Army soldiers in Baghdad will play in an air campaign over Iran?

21. backup after bombing? How about distraction?
OK, not enough to invade with, not needed to bomb, how about backup after bombing? Sort of scootch the 2 countries together? How about being in the area so after the bombing they can then occupy some of it? Probably be kept in Iraq, but I just don't trust these bozos.

It is really difficult, living with an administration that you cannot trust at all.

10. I don't know. Did he or didn't he?
I mean, he might have also declared "secret war" against Belgium and Bangladesh. I'll hold my outrage until we have more than a question mark.

15. Except that the US didn't raid the Belgian Consulate, nor
were three large explosions heard in the south of Belgium.

17. There's a significant difference between
raiding a "consulate" and starting a war. There's a possibility that there's a "secret war" going on, though given this administration's track record on competence I'd highly doubt they could pull one off. At any rate, far more likely is the following scenario:

1. Iran sets up bogus "consulate," which acts solely as a front for covert Iranian assistance to Shi'a groups such as al-Sadr's Mahdi Army.
2. US informant passes on word of bogus consulate's dealings.
3. US army raids consulate, captures all involved, as well as incriminating documents.
4. Iran doesn't want us exposing their actions, so they don't do more than the standard protest. We don't want a war, so we quietly send the captured Iranians back home after the brouhaha dies down.

12. He certainly hinted at war against Syria and Iran in his speech
yesterday. But, I can't believe he is that big a fool. Where does he think he will get the bodies to fight? Do you suppose he has decided to send Babs to one and Jen to the other?

19. I think Congress knows about this and that's why so many repukes have joined the Dems
to publicly oppose the escalation. This is why Hagel is so pissed. This is what Biden's warning was all about. They're trying to stop him in his tracks.

I hope they see the Pandora's Box they opened by having NO OVERSIGHT of that psycho for the last 6+ years! Dumb asses. The repukes are responsible for this shit. They let the psycho do whatever the hell he wanted and just LOOK at where we are now. Geezus!
