T- 024:04:45:48 ..... Iran.
Check out globalsecurity.orgs 'Iran Countdown Clock' in the upper right hand corner of their homepage.......

http://www.globalsecurity.org/index.html

Also on this page .... http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/iran-timeline.htm#070201

I only post this because I consider that site to be pretty informative, accurate in their reporting, legit what-have-you, over the years. I'm not into predictions but I found it kinda curious that they would post a 'countdown clock' on their site. Anyone ever notice this clock before? It's new to me.

That would be just over 24 days till at least the clock runs out. Peace. :)

1. Just FYI, we have had at least 7 supposedly solid dates for an Iran attack in the past 14 months.
I'm not going to soil my shorts just yet.

2. "01 February 2007"....

The year 2007 begins to mark the closing of the window of opportunity for military strkes against Iran.

CBS News reported on 18 December 2006 that the Bush administration has decided to ramp up the naval presence in the Persian Gulf to send a message to Tehran. CBS reported that an additional aircraft carrier would be added to the Gulf contingent in January 2007, arriving on station around 01 February 2007. The New York Times reported 20 December 2006 that the Bremerton-based aircraft carrier CVN-74 John C. Stennis and its strike group could leave weeks earlier than planned as part of a move to increase the U.S. military presence in and around the Middle East. Moving up the Stennis’ departure date in January 2006 allows a longer overlap with USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, the carrier currently in the Persian Gulf. Eisenhower deployed 01 October 2006, and could remain on station into March 2007. It is difficult for one Carrier Air Wing to conduct flight operations for much more than about 12 hours before having to stop. However, with the combined striking power of two CVWs, the Carrier Task Force (CTF) is able to conduct air operations over a continuous 24-hour cycle.

If the White House is politically risk averse with reference to striking Iran, striking Iran in early February 2007 would allow the maximum time betweeenr the strikes and the 2008 Presidential election.

14. Joe says air strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities in 2007/08
http://www.upi.com/InternationalIntelligence/view.php?StoryID=20070102-125318-7565r

Anticipating the new line, Sen. Joe Lieberman (Independent-CT) referred to "Iran and al-Qaida" on Wolf Blitzer's Sunday program on CNN. That Iran is Shiite and al-Qaida Sunni becomes irrelevant in the new game plan that will most probably lead to U.S. air strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities in 2007/08. Can a Democratic Congress be bypassed under a blanket authorization already secured to hunt down transnational terrorists wherever they may be hiding?

16. The problem with this is in order to do Iran right, you have to have
the draft in place and active for about 8 months before you put the first boot on the ground. Otherwise the vast majority of the first wave will get wiped out, and the rest of them picked off until reinforcements trickle in.

So if this is right, Bush is sacrificing about 50,000 troops to get the war started and the draft activated to finish it. He would be removed from power before that happened, one way or another.

19. The clock is new
most likely Psy-Op but who knows? It is really one of the best websites as far as factual information on the US military but it's agenda is also slightly militaristic.

Check out O-Plan Iran on the site.

There is absolutely no doubt that the US will strike Iran if other measures don't alter the financial/energy situation. At present the US is working through the UN to place financial pressures on Iran and working internally in Iran to topple the present gov't.

Rinse and repeat.

It's really not whether the US Inc. will go to war with Iran as they always have been at war with Iran, Iraq, Mexico, Energy/Resource Nation, etc. It's more of how the war will be carried out.

Apparently we've resorted to setting up stopped clocks left and right in the hopes one will be right.
