gas is going to go up... says my Dad, who is glued to rush and faux

:eyes: I'm heading out to MN later this week for a family visit. Talked to my folks yesterday to find out who would be picking me up at the airport etc., and my dad gets on the phone

what started out as "how's the weather" ended up with pooh-pooh on global warming

proceeded to the "my country right or wrong" speech

and ended with the "just wait, the Democrats are going to destroy the world, we're all going to die" diatribe

I can tell this visit will go well.. :eyes:

I've already called my brother and sister and told them both they were to NOT leave me alone with my dad, and please please please rescue me at least one of the days...

on edit: does no good to try logic with my dad. in comparison my dad makes rush limbaugh sound almost reasonable.

2. And then the dems need to look at the oil companies if the
cost of gas goes up and they make the same level of profits. Right now they are gouging us for every penny they charge for a gallon of gas. They've been allowed to get away with it for so long that there is no longer a 'cost of doing business' for big oil. Every damn penny they have to put out they make sure the consumer is charged double.

We should have nationalized the oil industry a long time ago.

3. You probably have more influence on your dad's political views than you think.

Imho, he's deep in the propaganda, so you'll have to try to get him to agree with you on small things to build a foundation. Then you can use that foundation of small things that you both agree on to switch him over totally.

Expect this to take months or years, not days. Shoot for November 2008.

Btw, I don't say this enough, but I love your 'toons.

4. my dad is German- American
you know what they say about Germans?

You can always tell a german, you just can't tell them much... :D

and yeah, he's deep into the propaganda-doodoo. As far as changing his mind? been trying to do that for 30 years, hasn't worked yet, and I doubt it will have any effect by 2008
