USNews: Rove believes victory is still achievable in Iraq, and Bush should pursue it vigorously

http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/articles/070107/15whitehouse.htm

<snip>

For Those Who Predicted His Demise...

He is showing no signs of leaving, as some had predicted. Indeed, White House political guru Karl Rove is as aggressive as ever in making policy arguments-his main theme being that Republicans lost the congressional elections because they didn't sufficiently live up to their core conservative ideals. And his influence is still pervasive, sources say. For instance, GOP insiders suspect that Rove had a big hand in distancing Bush from the Iraq Study Group because he believed the bipartisan panel was too critical of current Iraq policy. Rove, aides say, believes that victory is still achievable and that Bush should pursue it as vigorously as he can.

Right?

7. Rove knows we've lost
just like Bush, he wants to hang on until the end of Bush's term so another president presides over the helicopters on the embassy moment.

9. There is no such thing as VICTORY
in this situation, all they have is a WORD that people respond to, but it's meaningless in this circumstance and they should be called on this. ALong with SURGE, which really means ESCALATION.

This is a NO WIN situation. Like saying a person will be Victorious over meatloaf.

Rove should be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail, or at least given the same treatment as Mussolini, or Hussein.

I would PAY to see that, a PAY PER VIEW event.

No One wins in a Civil war.

THe only VICTORY here is for Bush/Rove/Cheney and their Bank ACCOUNTS, they are reaping BILLIONS of dollars, and I'm willing to bet that between the three of them there's a trillion bucks sitting in offshore accounts somewhere. They are not doing this JUST so their defense buddies get some big bucks, no way, these three greedy pigs MUST have a personal fortune at stake here, or they wouldn't do it.

10. Rove is the only "general on the ground"
that Bush listens to.

All the others are just window dressing.

Rove know about the military and military planning? He's a politcal dirty-trickster who keeps Bush high on himself.

12. Rove is not as good a judge as most on whether victory is achievable
What this means is he thinks he can sell something to the American people. He is not about defeating Iraqi insurgents; he is about defeating Democratic politicians. That is what any ideas he has are about.

13. Well that's just great.. Now if he can tell me what "Victory" means
then his little speech might actually mean something. Goddamn freeps are always talking about "Victory" but not fucking one of them can tell me what the conditions for Victory are...

any more than he can define what "integrity" means

Right before he and his wife killed their kids and committed suicide.

18. "bush should pursue it vigorously"
I agree. He and his family should send our soldiers home and head over to Baghdad and take care of business themselves! Jebby, Neal, Babs Sr & Jr., Kathryn Harris, brother Condi and all the rest.
