You hear the darndest things in a parking lot
I was loading up my truck at the grocery store in a small south Mississippi town this morning when I heard a rather loud, somewhat agitated female voice from the gas station across the parking lot. "I cook your meals, I wash your clothes, I suck your dick and you want to spend the weekend with your wife and kids?" Now I don't want to be judgemental but the lady appeared either hung over or drunk; and this was before 9:00 this morning. He drove away in a rather old pickup truck; she sat down on a bench in front of the gas station. I went home and unloaded my groceries. I feel so warm and cozy about the intense family values one finds in our country. I'm gonna hazard a guess that if these two are registered to vote, they won't be voting for San Francisco values.

15. was this in Washington DC?
:D Oh wait - they're poor, so odds are he's not a Republican Senator, despite the uncanny similarities.

3. She probably always votes for the "cute" guy
He probably votes with the guy who mentions guns in his platform.

Neither would vote for a woman.

:P

12. they're real people, but not country.
I'm proud of my taste in Music (which tends toward classic country) And my voting record...which is strictly progressive.

Thank You.

16. "The Outlaws" (the original ones)
Waylon and Willie and Tompall Glaser...wow...killer album! Especially "Put Another Log On The Fire." This sounds like a follow-up tune to that, or something!

The Outlaws was my first country album, back when I worked in Florida for a big-time Waylon Jennings fan. I have a couple of "country" and several "alt country" discs (Son Volt, Bottle Rockets, that type of stuff), and some bluegrass and Rockabilly-country (Carlene Carter, etc). But generally, anything they play on the radio, country or otherwise, sucks. Generally.

21. You would love, I mean LOVE Hank Williams the third.
My husband and I checked him out a few months ago at a local club. He starts out with a few of his grandpa's songs (I'm So Lonesome etc.), usually does his Dad's "All My Rowdy Friends..." and then lets loose with his own stuff which is an odd mix of metal/blues/rockabilly.

28. Is he not the BEST!!
My dad told us about him a couple years ago. He is just great. From what I gather, he's not a jerk like his dad either. Hopefully he'll bypass the alcoholic gene too.

30. We love him!
He appeared extremely down to earth...and very polite. After he did his grandpa's songs he said,"Folks that came here to hear my grandpa's music, you might want to leave now...it gets a little 'different' from here on out..." Everyone stayed. Everyone enjoyed it immensely. And his dad is a jerk. We saw him (2nd time) two summers ago, he played for 35 minutes and then left with Kid Rock (I'm in the Detroit area). He used to play for two hours. A waste of time. I am glad we got the tickets for free.

10. I haven't walked a mile in her shoes so I couldn't hazard anything.
I drive an SUV, have loved country music my whole life through, and *gasp* once lived in a trailer. Dem voters can have moral "issues" as well as Republicans. It's when we begin the stereotyping that I really question our own "values".

13. I don't know
if I was stereotyping. At the moment it happened I found it funny, upon further review I find it sad and pathetic. I am a country music fan and we lived in a 16X85 once upon a time. I do think its somewhat true to say that if a "republican" falls off the moral wagon its usually okay or someone else's fault.

19. I can beat that
I lived in a 2-bedroom black and white tin trailer. 12x46 with red shag carpeting and those UGLY black wrought iron sconce thingies they used to put on. I had 2 kids and was going to college.
The second bedroom was so small a twin bed was wall-to-wall.
However, the dresser WAS in the closet so you could literally wake up, roll over and throw on your clothes before you hit the floor.
Ahhh those were the days when I learned to live on $100 a week.
:)
And, I did listen to country music...was just fitting you know?

23. It was just the two of us at the time
Newly Weds. We had plenty of room. I enjoyed the Trailor but we lived in a fairly cramped trailor park and wanted a little more space. We even had two bathrooms! High on the Hog newlyweds.

24. A tornado went right behind my little house trailer
It had one of those little crank windows in the bathroom which I generally left open (it may have been broken--I don't remember).
The tornado sucked the curtains through the window screen and demolished the double wide across the street. Seems the tornado didn't want to bother with my little tin can.:)

29. 10x50
In a nasty little trailer park in Biloxi MS, had roaches and palmetto bugs flying around. Ick Ick Ick. $90 a month, when my first husband was in the Air Force. But we were all in the same boat, so it was pretty fun, sort of a ready-made family for holidays, etc.

And, good music is good music, whether Patsy or Loretta or Bette or Cher.

25. you know, Repukes are always for doing "photo IDs" of the "Johns"
that "frequent" prostitutes ...

Should have followed the truck to the home, then found out if the guy was a RWer ...

If so, then send the family an "anonymous" letter about his misdealings ... if it's anything like a real RW family, you'd have two less RW voters out there ... him dead, and her in jail for shooting him ...
