1. This one is f***ing disgusting, biased, and furthermore completely ignorant

Frankly, it does not have a place at DU. My wife is Bulgarian as are many of my friends. I have lived there several years. They are not uncultured boors/gypsies who ride about on Donkeys and eat 'boiled goat neck'... They are actually better educated than most Americans...and far less pampered!

and FYI to the cartoonist. It's called 'Rakia' not 'Slivovitz'. 'Slivovitz' is the Serbian/Croatian name for it.

4. It's the way a lot of western Europeans look at it, though.

Danziger got that one right. It's the way they've always seen eastern Europe. It's the way southern Europe looks at northern Europe---and northern Europe looks at much of southern Europe.

Regional prejudices are always pretty stupid, although there are always culture clashes. Intelligent people rise above them.

The rest stick their pinkies out and look down their long, blue noses and that is who Danziger was skewering.
