Tomorrow starts a whole new era...
We've been the underdog for a long time. Tomorrow we see just who we elected. We get to watch what they do and if they keep their promises. Let's have LONG memories. Be aware and be in touch. Let your legislator know that you're tired of the last 6 years and expect better. Don't settle for less.

I can't wait for tomorrow.

They will go down also.

6. There are many appologists for those who voted for the IWR
are they still going to be appologists for those Congress people that support more blood for this war?

I hope you are right, that if they do that they will go down also, but that will only happen if the people make there will known

What confuses me is that first Reid said he would support more troops on a limited basis, then he said he wouldn't, now he is saying he is considering it again?

I don't know what it takes, but I wish someone else would replace him as majority leader

7. Let Leiberman go it alone..
We don't need to support any escalation. Let Bush/McCain/Leiberman have at it with the defense fund and fall on their faces. People want the troops out now. People can see that we're just targets in a civil war. We don't need to contribute to that farce even for a limited time or with any conditions. Haven't we seen what happens when Bush promises something?

4. That would be a good start...
I saw that when it was "developing". Not a good sign.

5. We can stop the funding of more U.S. troops deaths
and that is what most Americans care about.

9. That is true, but unfortunately I think it would be political suicide
Both the administration and corporate media would say the Democrats do not support the troops, and though it would be false, I do not think it would be a viable strategy

However, investigating these bastards, finding impeachable crimes, and following through with impeachment based on evidence, would be supported by most Americans, and while that was going on, the Democrats could propose resolutions getting us out of Iraq, which would probably get shot down by this administration, but there would be NOTHING they could do about impeachment, because that is the duty of Congress when the executive branch breaks the law

11. Dems don't support the troops...
That's all that you'd see if we passed a resolution to defund. Fox would have a meltdown and the MSM would follow in lockstep. Investigations are our only recourse. Bring the truth to light. Show the American people that they've been duped. It's our only true weapon.

12. I am taking Pelosi at her word on this, Even Biden seems to be coming around
I wish there were more people like Ann Richards in our party now. They were never afraid to speak truth to power

13. We have to take Nancy, Reid, Murtha, Conyers, Leahy, etc at their word..
Tomorrow we find out if they're all talk or if there will finally be accountability and civic responsibility in government again. I'm optimistic but I will be calling Sen. Reid's office tomorrow just in case.

As for Ann I agree totally. I'm miss her honesty, humor and down home populism. Same with Molly Ivins. Boy it'd be good to hear from Molly about the new Congress right about now. Let's all say a little prayer for her.

8. Bush wants 160 Billion for Iraq to carry him thru to 08 elections, realizing
the problems he may face along the way. What happens if he is impeached, at least Cheney's Halliburton will be covered.

14. Odd how we just keep writing blank checks for the war deparment
Terra terra terra. Flush billions down the toilet of Junior's Maginot Line in the Sky that doesn't work. Pentagon losing billions and can't find them, doesn't even seem to be trying - this is a known unknown. Heritage Foundation screening Iraq reconstruction job applicants to make sure only unqualified Republican cronies get lucrative jobs to play football with billions of dollars in cash that have gone missing. 2001 & 2003 tax cuts for rich people and their corporations. Oops we're in debt bigtime. Let's 'reform' the food stamp program. Throw $160 billion more at Junior's adventure in Iraq. And 'reform' VA benefits. Oops, more debt. Guess all that prosperity didn't trickle, must be because we didn't cut taxes enough for rich folks. Pass the Paris Hilton tax cuts, that should do it.

Stop!! If we have to hear over and over that the economy will implode if the richest 1% would have to start helping the rest of us pay taxes, and if we must debate ways to 'reform' Social Security and Medicare because we can't afford our social programs any more, could someone please explain to me why we need yet another collosal aircraft carrier, to name after yet another loser Republican president?

Now that we control the Congressional agenda, wouldn't it be a good idea to start talking about drastic cuts in military spending? We're spending half a trillion dollars a year on defense, more than all the other countries in the world combined. I think we should start asking why.
