My own special comment on Congress and bipartisanship
After the 2006 election, there was a lot of talk about bipartisanship. "Let's all work together," they said, to fix the problems in America. As the new democratic congress is about to convene there's a lot of talk about "democrats going back on their word," that they weren't going to share power, listen to ideas, yada yada yada. Now I could be wrong, but as I remember it, it's was mostly republicans that were calling for bipartisanship on that night.

All in all I think bipartisanship is a good thing. Both parties are quite capable of being corrupt, and both parties have a lot to offer. I may not agree with republicans very often, but my opinion isn't absolutely correct, my way isn't necessarily the unquestionable best way, and finding middle ground is where government should be - the people of this country will benefit most when the middle ground is reached or at least approximated.

So if both parties are honestly working for the best outcome, working together to find solutions for America is what they should do. Unfortunately, the republicans are not doing that. My strong impression is that they will work to divide democrats. Their ideas will not be designed to reach a common middle ground but to prevent the now-elected majority from making the changes they were elected to make. It's not good-faith. The attitude of the republicans over the last six years has been, "We're in charge and we're doing what we want to do." As long as the goal of the now-minority is to prevent us, the majority-elect, from fixing what their fat-ego, pro-corporate legislation did to this country, then not only do I not have a problem with the democrats cutting them out with their own rules, I demand it!

Bush has a habbit of accusing his opponents of doing what he is, in fact, doing. He's accused democrats of "playing politics" with all sorts of things over the time he's been in office (and before, during the election of 2000). Now, the republicans are again playing politics. Well the voters have had enough of this shit, so prepare to get rolled over!
