If Ford had been elected to a second term

would we have been spared the Reagan, Bush I & II debacles? Would people have been so pissed at Ford they'd have elected a Democrat in '80?

about Ford's opinions re Reagan and Bush I? There was definitely no love lost there. It seems that Ford was quite disturbed by the hard right turn that his party made since he left office. History might have taken a different course if he had won in 1976.

Someone put a link to a story there, and it had a recording of Ford lamenting the conservative takeover of the Republican party.

Was it talking about how Reagan dissed him by not campaigning for him in 1976 and how the senior Bushes are hypocrites for disavowing their pro-choice beliefs?
