Looks like the 3000th soldier to die in Iraq
Edited on Fri Dec-29-06 06:21 PM by Crunchy Frog
will be killed at almost the exact same time as Saddam's execution. There's some kind of irony in there somewhere, I think.

Has it really been worth 3000 of our soldiers lives, countless thousands of Iraqi lives, and over 300 billion dollars, just to kill one petty tyrant in order to gratify the ego of a much bigger tyrant?

How many more is it going to be before this catastrophe finally finishes playing itself out?

2. The 3000th will die, whether the media reports it or not.
Anyway, I think they will. 3000 is a big milestone, and there's web sites out there keeping constant track. http://icasualties.org/oif/

It sure as hell is going to be noted here, and on other blogs. The MSM has figured out that they can't completely ignore stories that are big on the blogs.

Welcome to DU BTW. :hi:

4. I heard 3000 civilian contract workers have died there

Can't confirm, just one of those things that goes by and you catch it. And I'd bet that it's already gone past 3000 G.I.'s.

5. Quite possible that it already has broken 3000.
The fatality reports for today haven't come in yet, but it usually takes them a day or two (or longer sometimes). The past week, the daily toll has mostly been greater than four, so I wouldn't be surprised to see numbers like that for today.

I check here several times a day, and lately the numbers have gone up almost every time I look.

6. There were two more from Ft. Richardson (Anchorage)
within the past couple of days. That makes 9 Ft. Rich-based soldiers this month. This has just got to stop.

7. There were three more from Fort Drum
here in New York State announced just a few days ago. There's more and more people being affected by this every day. When is it going to reach a critical mass? When are people finally going to say enough's enough?

12. Another paratrooper from Ft. Rich
was killed in Al Anbar Province yesterday. Since these troopers were deployed to Iraq in November 10 of them have died, and 45 have been injured. This is just insane.
