The California Supreme Court has upheld the death penalty in the case of a local man -- even though the jury in his case was given fliers with biblical passages during the trial, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The court ruled Thursday that the passages, distributed by one of the jurors, was not enough to throw out the death penalty against Bob Russell Williams Jr., according to a Chronicle story.
Williams pled guilty to the 1994 rape and murder of book store operator Mary Breck in her southwest Bakersfield home.
