KID ROCK URGES AMERICANS TO SUPPORT ARMY IN IRAQ

KID ROCK spent Christmas in Iraq, as part of a thank you to US troops stationed in the Middle East - and urged his countrymen to show their support for the army. The rocker visited three different army camps in Iraq on Sunday (24DEC06), where he performed and signed autographs during a 16-hour stint, and had "one of the most thrilling rides of (his) life in a Blackhawk (helicopter)". Writing on his website, Rock adds, "This year for Christmas I wanted to make sure somebody was thanking our troops for their service, no matter what our views are on the current situation in Iraq. "I am very proud and happy to be here with some of the finest men and women in the world on Christmas Eve. "These troops bust their asses here and that's the real story, long hours, 140 degree summers and freezing nights this time of year, walking around with 60 or 70 pounds of gear, bathrooms and showers are worse than any ghetto I've ever stayed in.
