KID ROCK URGES AMERICANS TO SUPPORT ARMY IN IRAQ

KID ROCK spent Christmas in Iraq, as part of a thank you to US troops stationed in the Middle East - and urged his countrymen to show their support for the army. The rocker visited three different army camps in Iraq on Sunday (24DEC06), where he performed and signed autographs during a 16-hour stint, and had "one of the most thrilling rides of (his) life in a Blackhawk (helicopter)". Writing on his website, Rock adds, "This year for Christmas I wanted to make sure somebody was thanking our troops for their service, no matter what our views are on the current situation in Iraq. "I am very proud and happy to be here with some of the finest men and women in the world on Christmas Eve. "These troops bust their asses here and that's the real story, long hours, 140 degree summers and freezing nights this time of year, walking around with 60 or 70 pounds of gear, bathrooms and showers are worse than any ghetto I've ever stayed in. "No matter what you think of this war, you have to support and respect our troops. I know all of us do, but maybe try and show a little more if you can."

Is Kid Rock even a Repub? Just because he does a show and says we should support the troops doesn't mean so. He is a California rapper, I seriously doubt he is all that conservative. Why is everyone jumping on him? What was he supposed to say, "Don't support the troops, they are enabling a war monger and his fascist cabal"? That doesn't seem like it would make a very good USO moment.

I support the troops. Anyone who volunteers to put their life on the line in defense of our country I view with enormous respect. Is it possible that I feel that way without supporting Constitutional amendments against gay marriage or spending my weekends patrolling the New Mexico border?

EDIT: This wasn't actually meant as a reply to #4, just as a general reply.

5. I do. We do.
I've met very few people who denigrate our troops.

Somehow along the way to 'support the troops' one had to 'support the war'.

Also, for tha vast majority of people I converse with supporting the troops calls for just one thing---Saying out loud, "I support the troops".

Or a yellow ribbon car magnet.

9. I don't have to do shit except pay taxes and die, no-talent.
I mean, it pretty much goes without saying that the people we respect above all in this time are the unlucky members of our military and especially their families, who unfortunately have to serve under a madman and in turn are the victims of an ego gone haywire.

What is it with right-wingers like Bobby Ritchie and their continuous beating in of "Those who don't support the war or our President automatically do NOT support the troops"? Yes, I LOATHE THIS WAR. YES I SUPPORT AMERICA'S TROOPS! And for that reason, I want them to be home, not to be IED targets.

Here's an idea Bobby: why don't you use your celebrity to call on the MAN YOU SUPPORT to end this illegal war if you support your troops so damned much?

I lived in my car as well, so I can sympathize.

I also fail to see what the hell one possibly has to do with the other. They are two completely unrelated people and why I can't detest that obnoxious, loud, irritating, egotistical, hateful and arrogant rosie yet enjoy the music of Kid Rock and admire him for his backstory without being attacked by you for it is quite perplexing. Who really cares? There is no relation to the two. I hate rosie, I like Kid Rock. Whoopieeeeeeee. There are many people I don't like. There are many I do. Should I compare each one now to make sure I'm not in violation of some ridiculous conceptual rule or something?

18. Who *doesn't* support the troops? Good grief.
This grandstanding & opportunism going on behind the cover of the troops is getting old & obnoxious. I know his comments were said in the spirit of having visited the troops (kudos to him for that), but even those who oppose the Iraqi invasion support the troops -- they're doing their job by following their inept CIC's orders.

If any troops feel that they're not being supported, they need to look no further than the White House. This invasion has their name on it, yet they have failed the troops' needs in every respect.

97. Seriously?
I do get a little tired of people behaving as if "the troops" are complete hapless victims. They did volunteer, and they knew what they could be headed for...and quite a few seem to have swallowed the BFEE line, hook, line, and sinker. And every time I'm asked to send something to show my support--a package, a letter, a card, etc--I do; and then I send EXACTLY the same thing to one of several friends I have working for NGOs in far off places, because I value their work for development and peace more than I do the efforts of "the troops".

But I don't wish them ill. I can't imagine anyone saying the things you say you've heard. Kill them? Really?

Man, I thought I was unpatriotic.

52. Your conclusions about Kerry
have no basis. My son is a Marine with two tours in Iraq, and one more coming up. He voted for Kerry as did many of his fellow Marines. He would have been thrilled to meet Kerry in Iraq. Or anywhere.
There's a reason the Bushies have never released how the military voted. Trust me, if the news was good for them, we'd know those numbers.
We know how every other demographic voted. Curious that we don't know the military breakdown.
(If you think the troops respect Bush, you're listening to too much talk radio.)

from what I can tell from the stuff along the side of his page is not my ideal for credible information.

I think the reaction you're getting is because you're taking info from a conservative site and accepting it without much question.

I will, at the VERY least, need another source to consider that this actually happened.

and their welfare and their families more than John Kerry has over the last 36 years.

I think you are a product of MEDIA LYING along with the GOP dependency on lies against Kerry. And not ONE of the media or GOP liars can hold a candle next to Kerry when it comes to valor on and off the field and HONORING the troops for the last 36 years.

#1 you use petulant responses to Kid Rock's possibly well meaning posts as a way to stick in a sideways attack on John Kerry --- you just coincidentally had a photo of him at a mess tent. Then you link the photo to another poster's genuine expressions of disappointment with Du. I wonder if you know how exploitive you sound. If you disagreed with the other posters' criticism of Kid Rock honestly you could have made a valid point

by asking for them to be brought home - or at least for a better diplomacy to stabilize the region.

How is that worse than what Bushco has done - letting hijackers from his favorite country (Saudi Arabia) attack America then taking revenge on Iraq which had nothing to do with 9/11?

U.S. Senator John Kerry (R) joins U.S. troops for lunch at the Basrah Air Station in southern Iraq is this undated handout photograph released by the Ministry of Defense on December 16, 2006. Reuters

Try reading the news, rather than some lying twit with an ax to grind next time. :eyes:

Truly.

A photo from a RW blog of Kerry sitting at a table = "the troops humiliated him"?

That's a hell of a reach, and a completely bizarre one at that.

Humiliating someone would be, say...putting them in a nude, human pyramid and photographing them. Or perhaps putting a hood over their head and standing them on a box with electrical wires attached to their body, then photographing them. That stuff is humiliating.

Humiliating:

Humiliating:

Not at all humiliating:

Get a clue.

Edited to add another one of these:

70. Amazing. Timing is everything. Thank you for your comment!
Why, just this morning I was trying to explain to my brother-in-law that the 'No Child Left Behind' initiative was a total boondoggle, and that it had failed completely when it came to increasing the education and awareness level of children in this country. But he kept insisting that I provide him with some examples of just how big a failure it was in that regard. And now -- voila!

Edited on Wed Dec-27-06 01:12 PM by LSK
Do you support an administration who committed them to a war of CHOICE?

Do you support an administration who committed them to war with improper equipment?

Do you support an administration who committed them to war without proper numbers?

Do you support an administration who committed them to war with no post-invasion plans?

Do you support an administration who continues to keep troops in harms way in the middle of a civil war?

Do you support an administration who cuts veterans benefits and funding???

Do you support an administration who stop-losses troops and keeps them there for multiple tour of duties??

Do you support an administration who allows contractors to give our troops sewer water to drink and cold and insufficient food to eat?

HOW EXACTLY DO YOU SUPPORT THE TROOPS KID ROCK????

I worked my ass off to get leaders in our govt elected who will take care of the troops. Did you support all the veterans who ran for Congress as Dems? Did you do benefits for Jim Webb? What did you do?

"The troops are good." Well, der. I know of nobody who would argue that. I was certain from day one that nobody(OK, I'm assuming here) against the military occupation of Iraq was against the soldiers. It's a stupid point to make, and rather nonsensical. But, it's middle-of-the-road enough for anybody to declare in a public forum to bring about a facade of compassion. Hell, I can give former celebrities who shill right wing causes after their 15 minutes run up a little more credibility for at least making a statement one way or the other. This is obvioiusly a glorified cry for attention.

80. I wish somebody would define this damnd "support" they keep talking about...
Sure, I HAVE to support them through my taxes. I even support the idea of making our gov't keep them well supplied with anything they need to protect themselves, to keep sane, etc...., and then some.

From an emotional standpoint, I support the ones that never wanted to be there in the first place. I even support the ones who no longer support the policy that keeps them there.

The gung ho, the ones who supported it and continue to do so, I don't want then to come home. Those people are sociopaths and killers. I want those fuckers to meet the natural end for someone who lives by the sword.

This war is wrong. "We" were wrong to go there in the first place. And "we" don't DESERVE to win it (whatever 'win' even means).

Bush should hang.

91. I'm Confused About This Whole Whole "washed-out"...
"his claim to fame is Pam Anderson","his three fans in Iraq were very grateful he went there" line. I don't really care for his music or his politics but I wouldn't dismiss his talent. I also respect where he came from and what he has accomplished. Here are some album sales numbers.

2003 "Kid Rock" 2x Platinum
2001 "Cocky" 5x Platinum
2000 "The History of Rock" 3x Platinum
1993 "Devil without a Cause" 11x Platinum

In total he has sold over 18-million records. Most of which were before he ever met TBPam. I'd argue that the only thing that has kept TBPam in the spotlight (other than her constantly changing cup-size) was her convenient love-connection with Kid Rock as her career tanked.

What did Kid Rock say that was worthy of so much outrage? I honestly thought everyone here supports the troops, and wants to get them home. I am honestly puzzled by the virtiol displayed. Kid Rocks statements are not conservatice, pro-war, or pro-bu$h. Who cares if he's a rock star, a poltician, or a factory worker? There's a fine line between supporting the debacle that is Iraq, and supporting the young men and women who are over there. Right?

What am I missing here?
