Voice of America: Bush heading to Texas ranch for a WORKING vacation
U.S. President George Bush heads to his Texas ranch Tuesday for a week-long holiday break. But as VOA's Paula Wolfson reports from Washington, it will be very much a working vacation. :eyes:

President Bush is expected to announce a revised strategy for Iraq early in 2007. And, over the course of the next week, he will have a chance to continue consultations and review his options in the informal setting of his family home.

The fate of American troops deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan was very much on his mind as he gathered with his family for a Christmas celebration at Camp David, the U.S. presidential retreat in the mountains outside Washington.

It was a quiet holiday observance, including services at the rustic chapel on the Camp David grounds and a turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

1. Translation: pResident will be drying out where no one can see him.
I wonder how many scabs he'll have on his face this time when he reemerges from his hidey-hole...

3. "gathered with his family"???
I think the twins are still down in South America, Momma & Poppy are in Kinnebunkport (sp?), Jeb's in FL with his family, etc......so he's hunkered down with Pickles & Condiliar?????

Great family gathering :eyes:

4. I can barely imagine the hard work
no, the Very Hard Work Indeed!

Bush is going into the wilderness on his Trek for 40 days to contemplate God's will vis a vis Iraq. He is going to tred the modern Yaquii path- mescal and mountain biking.

I hope he finds enlightenment this time, instead of just another bout of corporate satori.

And possibly profitable if you can figure out a way to keep from permanently traumatizing people.

I don't want to starve to death, after all.

Maybe flashcards of his face next to the foods we want to stay away from...

8. this really does help! I put a pic of Bush on my fridge this summer
It ensured that not only did I spend much less time in the kitchen, but when I did go in there, the momentary nausea kept me from eating much.

I went down 2 pants sizes, and the weight has stayed off!

10. Hey, you need to market that!
I want to see you selling this on an infomercial. Progressives who are trying to lose weight will buy your product!

13. Works way better than the rubber band around the wrist.
Unfortunately, I also feel an irresistible urge to drink heavily whenever I see a picture of him.

14. Why didn't I think of this before?
TWO pants sizes? If that's the case I am all over the Bush or Chimp pictures and will get those in front of the pantry and the fridge. I have a stomach condition where I have nausea quite a lot so this could only improve on the nausea - meaning, cause WAAAAY more - and really get me out of this overweight funk...
Thanks!

16. Tape a picture to the top of the cheese,
so you have to go through the picture to get to the cheese. Tape one on the butter dish. Lots of pictures. If you need to remove one from everything you eat, that could really slow you down.

I'm giving this thought.

19. I made sure I picked a really obnoxious one of him ...
Just thinking about it makes me feel queasy. He was smirking at the camera -- but it was evident that he had put on a few pounds, since he had squeezed himself into an outgrown pair of jeans in order to look macho, and his midsection was protruding over his pseudo-cowboy belt buckle. Clearly debunks the media fawning about how trim he is and how much he works out! (He's not just in denial about Iraq ...)

I have to look at him up close whenever I open the fridge door, but I kind of grit my teeth and imagine the weight going right to his gut instead of mine, as I get out the skim milk and whole-wheat bread.

One negative side-effect is that my blood pressure spikes whenever I'm looking at him, but overall it's gone down by 2-3 points from the spring. And I'm able to run for the bus without getting out of breath now, which is great!

The day he was talking about all the deaths in Iraq being a "comma", I was in the kitchen getting some carrot sticks when they broadcast that clip on the news ... I couldn't help it, I lost my temper and slapped the fridge. But luckily I didn't break anything (my hand, or the fridge).

17. Given the number of trips, surely the 'working' part is working to get there?

And think of the people who can't afford to take vacations. :(

18. That's just GREAT...when's the next attack?
We all know that nothing good happens when Captain Nimrod takes
a "working vacation".

On one of his more infamous "working vacations" he managed to
ignore an important PDB and allow terrorists to continue planning
9/11.

I can't wait to see what catastrophes await this nation--as a direct
result of *this* "working vacation".
