We found out we were losing our Air America affiliate at the beginning of November. The Clear Channel station was going to sports.
I've lived here for 6 years and every other person here is an organizer/activist of some sort. I didn't get involved in this at all but thank goodness hundreds of people did.
Its been announced yesterday and today that the station is going to keep Air America on air. This is the result of people jumping to action - planning, organizing, talking to the right people.
Thanks to the people in Madison who showed Clear Channel that we want Air America Radio!
I was seeing a specialist there last year for ultimately surgery and all. Our last time up there, we ate at Harvest and about died from food happiness. :loveya:
I had talked to the main sales guy at Clear Channel at our Holiday party last week and he was saying that they might not switch to Faux Sports due to overwhelming demand from both listeners AND advertisers who loved the progressive radio format...he was clearly puzzled why the upper management wanted to drop THE MOST SUCCESSFUL RADIO FORMAT in the market.
