I'm Shocked I Tell Ya!!! Soldiers Tell Gates What Bush* Wants To Hear.
What a crock of shit... Gates sits down with a few soldiers for a one on one and to a person they tell him they need more troops. Although the Generals ( who obviously don't know shit ) are against it.

Soldiers tell Gates more troops needed in Iraq

~snip~
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates and the rest of the Bush administration may be undecided on whether to send more troops to Iraq. But several soldiers he met with at Camp Victory here on Thursday morning said extra forces would help.

"Sir I think we need to just keep doing what we're doing," Spc. Jason T. Green, with the 101st Military Intelligence Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Infantry Division, told Gates during a breakfast session with about 15 U.S. soldiers.

"I really think we need more troops here. With more presence on the ground, more troops might hold them off long enough to where we can get the Iraqi Army trained up." ~snip~

1. Newflash
The Iraqi army doesn't give a SHIT about taking over, in fact the sooner you leave the quicker they can disband and get back to killing each other.

2. No, they're saying they're scared and don't want to be among the last 50 troops to leave.
"Safety in numbers."

"Misery loves company."

You get the idea.

3. NO soldier in the field is gonna say they need less help for God's sake.

This is silly even for a photo op.

It only proves to me that Gates' 'candor' before congress was a ruse and the usual bush*/rove bullshit the democrats should be very aware of by now. YOU WOULD THINK.
Gates is a company man.

12. Notice the question wasn't "Do you want to get the f*ck out of here?"
It was "Do you want more troops here?"

17. I'm sure...
they were hand picked soldiers who support the Chimp and his ill-fated policy, so it would appear they're clammering for more troops just like Chimpie said...what utter bullsh*t!

4. Who can blame them? If they want a future in the service they do not get that by
speaking the Truth to DimSon or his minions. And to be truthful if we had enough troops in Iraq we could pacify the country. It would only take 20 million or so. No problem.

7. Tsk tsk tsk you mean you don't believe Gates
Generals, colonels and the military in charge in Iraq say no more troops needed. They say the conflict should end.

But all of a sudden Gates slips into Iraq and wonders of wonders the troops on the beat say more troops...I knew if they went long enough and looked under enough they would finally find someone to agree with bush.

8. That's not what I heard
I heard that are efforts are futile and that we will never make those people accept democracy. They do what they are told by the baddest dude on the block. Sad.

9. Some, maybe most of those kids are working 18 hour days.
Maybe a day off every 10 or 12 days. Kids on their 2nd, 3rd, 4th tour. Yeah, I'd say they don't have enough kids to do the job - as they are told to do, anyway.

I am having a big problem with the officers commanding - what the hell are they doing???
Don't they, aren't they supposed to be looking out for the kids under their command?? Every human being has a breaking point- they are surely testing the limit here.

Joe

10. This is utterly obscene
Bush always claimed to listen to the generals on the ground to determine force levels which of course he did NOT do.

Now the generals on the ground are saying no escalation, so Gates goes to the grunts on the ground and gets them to say what he wants to hear for Smirky's escalation.

This is further abuse of the troops and is utterly disgusting

13. Are They Really The Grunts On The Ground? From What I Saw....
it looked like handpicked 'greenzone' personnel. Did you see the dining room they were eating in on the clips of Gates meeting with them.

They are telling Gates what * wants Gates to hear.

11. Bush is clearly using the troops as his PR stooges to push his agenda.

He is beneath contempt.

16. Exactly. They're gonna say they need more so the rotations...
become less frequent or stop. I don't blame them one bit for saying they need more, but I don't think more should be sent. They all should be withdrawn by this summer. Kucinich is right, 6 mos is plenty enough time to get them out.
