Fla. Man Charged After Puppies Eat Other Puppies

TAMPA, Fla. -- A Tampa man was charged with animal cruelty for abandoning two puppies in a shed, forcing the animals to eat other puppies.

Hillsborough County Animal Services spokesperson Marti Ryan said Jose Martinez was told pets were not allowed where he lived and left the 3-month-old Shepherd mix puppies in the shed. It's not clear how long the animals were left there.

Martinez was charged with three counts of felony animal cruelty.

Animal services said the two surviving dogs, both female, are critically ill.
