Global Warming is not going to be bad for humans in developed, but for the animals and plants we enjoy, it will be a sad confusion. In poor countries with unsophisticated farming techniques, it will indeed be hardship on humanity, if they didn't already have it bad enough.

1. Here is the text story:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/6177663.stm

"Several records for temperatures in Britain have been broken during 2006.

Scientists from the Met Office and the University of East Anglia (UEA) say the year was probably the hottest in central England since records began.

The average growing season temperature was the highest recorded in central England, while previous maximums for individual months were also passed.

Globally, 2006 was the sixth hottest year on record, cooled by La Nina conditions in the Pacific Ocean."

2. to say that it won't be bad for developed countries is naive
it fails to take into account the repercussions of the added heat and how that will affect things like, oh, the FOOD CHAIN.

3. We'll manage to get by.
This country has a lot of creativity, people will figure out a way to survive with that resource.

Hell, if we have to grow food in space, we'll do it to survive.

Unfortunately, the poorer peoples of the world do not have that luxury.

> Le Pre Nol aura une bonne raison si jamais il est en retard dans ses cadeaux cette anne. Il est occup jouer au... golf. <

An attempt at translation: (Note: /sarcasm, 'cuz we're well aware of the "problem" up north...)

Santa will have a good reason if he ever gets late in (preparing) his gifts this year. He is busy playing... golf.

> Le Pre Nol a en effet t surpris, hier, au club International 2000, Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle, prs de la frontire amricaine, parcours qui est toujours ouvert. <

Santa Claus has in fact, unexpectedly been seen, yesterday, at the International 2000 Club, in St-Bernard-of-Lacolle, near the US border, a run which is always open.

> C'est vraiment le monde l'envers. Alors que des stations de ski restent fermes ou fonctionnent de faon trs fragmentaire avec la temprature anormalement douce la mi-dcembre, des parcours de golf reprennent les activits. <

It really is an upside-down world. As ski stations remain closed, or are partially in operation (thanks to artificial snow) due to abnormally mild temperatures this mid-december, golf courses are re-activated (re-opening).
