School shooting in PA and a DAMN fine webmaster!
====

We have received a report that a student brought a rifle to the High School. Shots were fired. Some students left the building. What we know is that an unidentified student shot himself. NOBODY ELSE HAS BEEN INJURED. All buildings will remain in Lockdown until further notice. The Police are escorting students from the High School to the Middle School. We will keep you informed every ten minutes as we receive more information. Parents, please stay away from all buildings until we have more information. It is now 10:00 a.m.

1. Wow! No kidding that is some great webmaster.
I could have used that two years ago when my daughter's high school was in lockdown because of a kid with a gun. Had to rely on her texting me. Very, very nervewracking.

3. If it's safe for people to do so, this is a great way to get info out
Example. In the northeast, the radio and tv stations go on and on and on about which schools are closed due to snow. All the principal has to do is update the school web page from home and people could find out instantly!

6. I subscribe to schoolsout.com, which sends an email
about school closings, etc., It's great, but this is awesome. I feel terrible about the child who shot himself, but getting that information out does give the female students' parents some relief.

School lockdowns are so frightening because as parents you virtually get NO information until it is over. Last year, my daughter's school was locked down because there was a bear on campus, which is a bit humorous, but the gun incident certainly wasn't.

4. I'm listening to this on CNN. Some student brought a RIFLE to school
and shot himself. Apparently there WERE other injuries too, but the reports are very scattered right now. I just checked to see where this is. Not too far from Philadelphia, Pa.

My first thoughts were that it's neardeer season and this was a very rural part of the state where deer huntung us very very popular. Doen't look too rural to me on the map.

7. What does hunting season have to do with a disturbed kid
who wants to shoot himself at the school?

9. Nothing with the disturbed part, but I grew up in Pa. with a family of
hunters, and hunting season was ALL they talked about fromHalloween untilthe firt of Dec. when the seaason opened. the guns were out, were being cleaned, everyone was target shooting out back, and everyone was ready!

It's almost a mindset, and nobody would give a second thoughtof seeing a teenager walking down the street with a rifle.

5. It's a Dynamic Site - Thank the School's Director of Communications or Whatever
The site's written in php, just like DU and other dynamic sites that allow user input via the backend, without having to use html.
