Could have put this in CatWoman's thread, but wanted you guys to see what some CONSERVATIVES posted today in response to Tom Delay's post over at Red State. Delay goes on and on about the principles of conservatism, and how he wants to begin a grass roots campaign (his blog) to take back the country. Anyway, look at a few of the comments under his post:

I saw it was a rough day on your blog, some pretty rude comments, I counted over a hundred. What did you do to incite so much anger? I think there are a lot of people that don't like you very much.
2. rblack198 says "Conservative Principles"
On many levels I respect Tom Delay, he was a hard charging advocate for those things near and dear to him. I will say it is hard for me to convince myself for taking the advise from someone who was a least a touch complicit in the thrashing the GOP took this past November. Where was Tom Delay as the majority leader to get our political troops back on the ship? I recall someone mentioning in an interview that a few spending bills laden with pork were pretty lean, paraphrasing of course. If I recall that may have been in reference to the Highway Bill. I don't really recall who said it (wink, wink).
"It is a regrettable fact of the current American political age that too many Republicans have failed to continue an aggressive fight for the principles which bring us together as Republicans and as conservatives. "
I agree Mr. Delay, but in many cases was this a simple function of do as I say not as I do. Were you a hard charging member focused on cutting spending and reducing the size of the federal government? Were you for a leaner more efficient government? Or is this statement now a reflection of a change of heart given the current electoral challenges facing our Nation and our party? Respectfully, Rich.
3. Pat says...."Ad hominen plea"
Rep. DeLay deserves credit for some successes and deserves blame for some failures. In the Schiavo case and elsewhere, for example, he undercut general conservative arguments for judicial restraint by calling for conservative activism by judges, calling on judges to ignore fairly settled law (including principles of federalism) in order to achieve conservative policies. This has been very damaging to the campaign against activist judges.
In many cases, it's true, Rep. DeLay did little more than what Democrats used to do, only to be far more skewered in the press. But our role models should not be Jim Wright and Tom Foley. We are better than the other party, or we should be. We gained vast public support in 1994 on a platform that we would NOT be just another set of fat cat politicans, enriching our Congressmen and lobbyists at the expense of good policies and doing the right thing.
So with all appreciation and respect for the good service which Rep. DeLay rendered, I do not support his continuing to play any leadership role in the Republican Party.

I was with you for years, but you're gonna have to work less solicitously to win back my vote.
