Psst--hey pal, y'wanna buy some trans fats & cigarettes?
Edited on Wed Dec-06-06 06:31 AM by Philosoraptor
I see you're new to New York City, and you look like the kind of a guy who might enjoy smoking cigarettes in public and eating fine foods rich in trans fatty acids, am I right?

See in New York City they've banned public smoking, and now restaurants must remove all the trans fatty acids that large guys like you crave. They say it's for our own good but hey, we all like to enjoy a Marlboro light after a Big Mac with cheese.

Just pull up to the curb there behind Wendy's and my man will be right with ya'. You ain't a cop are ya'?

4. In a few minutes you'll be eating canned creamed corn cold.
Or any other trans fatty thing that gets in your way.

11. I used to love that stuff when I was a kid.....
Why? Who knows, but I'd eat an entire can by myself. I haven't had it in decades. Perhaps a trip to the store is in order today, just to relive my childhood. ;)

14. me too... especially cans of black olives.
I could eat a couple of cans of black olives in a mater of minutes. My olive addiction started when I was an infant and used to steal everyone's Martini olives. :P :9

15. The heartbreak of black olive addiction.
Edited on Wed Dec-06-06 07:27 AM by Philosoraptor
So many young lives, ruined forever by the scourge of black tar olives. I've seen some kids eating unpitted black olives, green cocktail olives too, and sucking out the red pimento like crack heads.

I too went down that dark road rat, and to this day I crave the cold, crisp, meaty, black delight and I...I...I gotta go now.

16. OH YEAH!
Black olives are STILL on my favorites list. I'll eat a can all by myself too. I never liked the green olives until I got older, now I'll eat ANY kind of olives, in copious amounts. The place where I shop has an 'olive bar' with probably 20 different varieties of olives. YUM! :9

That does it. Tonight's menu is 'creamed corn and jumbo black olives', right out of the can! :woohoo:

5. Hey Swampy.....
you live in the center of the universe of trans-fats. I can't see NOLA ever passing a law like this. Armed insurrection would result. I'm with you, outlawing trans-fat is ridiculous. I can't imagine the great chefs of NOLA (I think everyone is a great chef in NOLA though) going along with this. They'd rather fall on their boning knives that take the fat out of the food.

18. I, for one, am glad they banned those evil things in NYC.
Now instead of selling all them stupid lobster shaped ashtrays to the flatlanders, we can up our prices on Freedom Fries and Camels. Ahyup, the tourist industry here in vacationland will be booming come next summer.

Besides we all know that New Yorkers are so busy that they have to be told what to do by the ever friendly, all knowing, all seeing next President of the US.......Michael Bloomberg.

19. I got tarred and feathered on here yesterday for....
suggesting that I thought it was wrong to ban what people want to eat and how they want to eat it. I wish you all could have come to my rescue. Next it may be wine, beer or liquor because if you drink in excess it could cause cirrhosis of the liver.

22. You should always include a link, when you're talking about another
thread.

I was just wondering, if the government doesn't spend the money to do the studies, and require the labeling who do you think will? Private Corporations? Are you going to trust what a private corporation tells you about the dangers of their products, over what a public service report will? And if you don't want either one of them informing you what you're eating, then how can you claim that people should know how to eat sensibly?

String cheese, anyone?
