"The Moral-Hazard Myth"
Since it looks like * is going to be bringing up HSA's in the SOTU, this might be a good time to take another look at this article.

It clearly delineates the problems in our Health Care system and how HSA's will make it worse.
It also explores the faulty premise underlying HSA's.

It's hard to pull out brief points from it, but here is one that people unaware of the issue might respond to:
HSA's will "make the insured a little bit more like the uninsured."

1. Krugman's essential point is that
Bush's plan is based on the premise that people are getting TOO MUCH health care and that it needs to be MORE expensive to deter them. It's a plan for insurance companies, not us. We get less care at a higher price, as if that wasn't the real problem.

3. My rotting teeth and
bad eyes would LOVE to know how I have too much health insurance, when I can't even AFFORD it, and so can't afford to fix little basic things like cavities....new glasses. :grr:

5. Exactly.
I feel for you. I've been there myself and it SUCKS.

It is shameful and disgusting that our nation is taking this heartless approach.

This article is one of the few that I have seen that addresses the lack of dental health and the many ways it affects people. I encourage you to read it and pass it to all you know, so they can realize what is at the core of this approach and how we all lose under it.
