Alito has just been sworn in, in private
according to NPR news.

How fitting that it would take place in private.

1. can't allow for any protestors to ruin the moment
They might think they are actually entitled to free speech or something.

7. Why is that? Roberts was sworn in during a Public Ceromony?
Gee, maybe that's because, Bush knows Alito is a scumbag! :argh:

14. I think it is because they want his appearance at the SOTU to be a big
deal and the first time we see "Justice" Alito.

As in, Cinderella has shown up at the Ball in spite of the evil step-mother (Dems) and the evil step-sisters (Kerry and Kennedy). :eyes:

24. I am sure they were ready to haul her out if they needed to.
The press (Tweety- I read somewhere) accused Sen. Kennedy of "molesting" her yesterday. I am quite sure they had their goons already to go. I do sometimes wonder what people are threatened with, besides anthrax.

15. Wanna bet the media is out front
with their cameras to catch him walking through the cheering crowd in his grand new robe and signing autographs?

That was perhaps one of the most disgusting things I have ever witnessed. Rock star Supremes, swoon swoon :puke:

17. Maybe it's the cherry/buttcrack/beer ceremony?
Family Guy fans will understand.

Then again, it's probably more like a private Federalist society event. He's their guy and this is their country now.

18. There are 2 Oaths
the "Constitutional one" and the "Judicial One." The judicial one is usually done in public, and the constitutional one in private. Roberts had the same thing.

Plus, the ceremony will be repeated (per SCOTUS announcement) in public (but w/o cameras) in the Supreme Court building sometimes soon during a "special sitting of the Court."

Pictures of him pissing all over it wouldn't be appropriate family viewing.

23. Omerta
They swore him in by pricking his finger and dripping the blood onto a picture of a saint which they then burned. He is a made man now!
