Problem is People Still Fail To Connect Missing $$$ With Failed Policy in Iraq
It is a hard concept for many people to grasp, but the 'missing money in Iraq' is a key indicator of what is wrong with the failed policy in Iraq.

As long as mercenary forces and corporations are 'taking in' BILLIONS of Dollars in 'fixed no-bid contracts' there is significant pushback in this Administration against deploying troops out of Iraq and ending our presence there.

I posted an OP earlier which linked to a well sourced and documented examination of the 'missing money' and those who are benefitting from our presence in Iraq at taxpayer expense.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=2799558&mesg_id=2799558

We need to understand that Congressional Investigations which "follow the money" are not primarily about payback, but will identify the interested parties and their actions that have resulted in this total disaster in Iraq and the looting of the American taxpayers' treasury. If we do not follow the money we will never leave Iraq, and the loss of American and Iraqi lives and their respective treasuries will never end because the payoff is simply too big for the recipients of this largess to ever voluntarily stop the flow of money to them.

And the 'bonus' the American people will inherit if we do not cut off the flow of 'treasure' to these corrupt individual and corporate mercenaries will be the institution of a 'military draft.'
There simply is no other way to keep the plates spinning --Chuck Hagel knows it, General Barry McCafferty knows, and everybody in the Pentagon knows it, .... and soon the AMerican people will know it.

1. There are still plenty of neocons to remove from political office;.........
Edited on Sun Nov-26-06 11:54 AM by Double T
2006 was ONLY the beginning. MANY KEY CORRUPTERS still maintain THEIR political offices and MUST BE exposed and removed from THEIR positions in 2008. Then, and ONLY THEN, can 'WE' start moving in a NEW DIRECTION.

5. I am still amazed that many still do not grasp the connection....
Edited on Sun Nov-26-06 12:27 PM by Blackhatjack
This Administration has done the bidding of so many corrupt groups that have and continue to raid our public treasury, and the assets of other countries. Is there any doubt that these same corrupt groups and individuals are exerting influence over the policy that has been implemented in Iraq? in Afghanistan?

To ignore this relationship is to ignore the reasons we went to war and are still in the mess we made of Iraq, and also Afghanistan.

6. Americans cannot comprehend the enormity of the numbers ....
It is beyond the ability of most Americans to comprehend spending millions of dollars per minute in Iraq, and the billions of dollars that are being 'wasted, stolen, misappropriated, and unaccounted for."

You would have a better chance of the average American understanding the size of a terabyte of storage capacity than their understanding the massive scope of the financial plundering going on as a result of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

8. I often thought about this while reading polls
in the lead-up to the election.

People were asked to choose between Iraq and corruption (among a few other issues) as their biggest issue. But Iraq and corruption are not two different issues, so the polls seemed to miss the mark.

9. I will be surprised if the missing $9 billion was not used to build military bases in Iraq
You just do not 'misplace' $9 Billion, no matter how incompetent you are.

I have suspected for some time that the 'missing $9 billion' was diverted to construct numerous American military bases in Iraq, as part of the plan to remain there essentially forever.

THis is what is driving almost total opposition to American presence there. They see the signs of permanent occupation.

11. In the immortal words of 2 very wise modern philosophers...
SWEET NEO CON
(M. Jagger/K. Richards)

You call yourself a Christian
I think that you're a hypocrite
You say you are a patriot
I think that you're a crock of shit

And listen, I love gasoline
I drink it every day
But it's getting very pricey
And who is going to pay

How come you're so wrong
My sweet neo con.... Yeah

It's liberty for all
'Cause democracy's our style
Unless you are against us
Then it's prison without trial

But one thing that is certain
Life is good at Haliburton
If you're really so astute
You should invest at Brown & Root.... Yeah

How come you're so wrong
My sweet neo con
If you turn out right
I'll eat my hat tonight

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah....

It's getting very scary
Yes, I'm frightened out of my wits
There's bombers in my bedroom
Yeah and it's giving me the shits

We must have loads more bases
To protect us from our foes
Who needs these foolish friendships
We're going it alone

How come you're so wrong
My sweet neo con
Where's the money gone
In the Pentagon

Yeah ha ha ha
Yeah, well, well

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...
Neo con
