US, China & Africa

I am curious to know if anybody else has noticed how we are ham strung by the religous right when it comes to helping different countries in Africa? For example China has been pouring billions of dollars into economically developing Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and several other sub- sarahan African countries so they can extract their resources. This has the net effect of putting tens of thousand of people to work. We on the other handare to tied up in trying to prevent people who have aids from getting condoms because they are seen by the rabid right as a form of birth control. I for the life of me cant figure how these people got into power.
