The Most Candid Assessment of Iraq Situation Ever
was heard on the Charlie Rose program last night. The interview starts at the 28.00 point and lasts for nearly 30 minutes.

Sir Jeremy Greenstock, formerly Britain's UN Ambassador and Special Envoy to Iraq was extremely candid, insightful and critical of where we are now, how we got here and where we go from here (both in Iraq and the world in general).

I originally tuned in to see John Edwards (first half hour of the show), but this turned out to be no more than a 'fluff', feel good, book promotion piece.

The second half hour blew me away. Sir Jeremy couches his language somewhat, he's a diplomat after all, but if you listen to his precise language, tone and 'throw away' lines, you see a much clearer picture than ever presented previously. He covers the lead up to invasion, the invasion, the current dilema and very importantly, the way out and the US current/future global standing.

He's been a party to it all, has no axe to grind and, better yet, is not peddling a book!

His intelligent dialogue and candor is refreshing. However, it does appear we are screwn if we do and screwn if we don't.

4. However, getting rid of Bush is not
the answer. According to Sir Jeremy, it won't matter who is in power, America's cred is so destroyed it will take many years to earn it back. It can't bully it's way through anymore - it's lost its juju.

3. I'm sure it will be very good but...
that's not what the Sir Jeremy interview was.

We all know what went wrong. What is needed is candid insight into who we've pissed off along the way and how to start making it right. That's where the program last night was refreshingly truthful and somewhat of an eye opener even for the most informed amongst us.
