I just became DU Donor #51. What number are you (and why do you give)?

Things are pretty tight right now and I swore I wouldn't do this cause of all the money I gave to candidates this year. But I'm working for a better future, even when my kid pisses me off and I want to tell her "if you don't finish the dishes tonight then you deserve global warming!" DU is a part of that process--I'm better educated on a lot of issues because of this joint. I know about what's going on in the party in other parts of hte country because of this site. I hear about news items often two to three days ahead of other people because of DU, too. I can't begin to list all the awesome, informative, idiotic, time wasting, and hilarious websites I find thru other peoples' posts here.

It's an invaluable aid to me and even if I'm dirtbag poor and sweating bullets about how to afford college for my daughter, I know my life and my mind and my ability to navigate the life of an American citizen is deeply enriched by the Democratic Underground. Even if just a bit of our Democracy is now poking its head up all groundhog-like this coming season, we still need to put in a lot of work to repair the damage done to a country that has given us all so much. DU gives me the tools I need to do just that.

My little donation is hell of bargain. I wanna thank Skinner, Earl, Elad, and all the awesome moderators who keep this railroad running on the right tracks. Yall are amazing and your work changes people's lives.

But have contributed many times - this site has given me comfort, laughs and encouragement over the years in the darkness. Joined it in 2001 after finding it via Bushwatch. How could I NOT donate??

The Mac forum has solved problems (minor, given a Mac), and the cooking forum for the icing on the DU cake - very tasty.
