My consolation behind Harold Ford's loss
is that he was sounding an awful too "Republican" to me.

1. I realize that running in a conservative
area the person that they would pick would have to be more conservative than someone from the Northeast, that's who they are representing. He needed a more populist message though not sounding like just another Republican. The people know the real thing and that's who they chose.

and then demanded Kerry apologize..... I don't think that impressed anyone.

I really wish some dems would stop believing that being "conservative" is the only way to win. Maybe, then again he really is this conservative and that's why he really lost.

8. He did not impress me.
I was pissed. John Kerry brought him up for the Massachusetts Democratic Convention about 5 years ago. He was very young but a good speaker. John should have left him in Tenn. How dare he criticize John Kerry that snotty little right wing freep.

6. How many times did you hear a talking head or read in print,
'he's running to the right of the republican' or 'he's out republicanned the republican'? So many that I lost count and when I heard it come out of Nora's mouth I almost wretched. Her whole attitude was like it's just not fair.

I'm stuck with Corker, :puke:, just :puke:.

And get ready for the chorus of how a dem just can't win in the south. I may have to go back to bed.

9. CNNexit poll voters: 45% Conservative, 40% Moderate, 15% Liberal
Some more numbers for you.

65% of TN voters consider themselves to be a born-again or evangelian christian.

To ban Gay Marriage Amendment:
81% yes
19% no

In some counties 90% and even in urban areas 64% said yes.

In TN, if a black man ran a more liberal campaign this race wouldn't be even close. If he ran a populist platform he would still loss by a large margin. If you aren't/were from TN than you don't know how red this state is. TN have been going more red every year since 2000 when Al Gore couldn't even win his home state, and he was the state's former senator.

11. I don't believe that
Al Gore couldn't even win his home state

Diebold was foot loose and fancy free throughout several states in 2000. Even here in Georgia.

10. Me too.
It often sounded to me like he was running more against his own party (or popular misconceptions of his own party) than he was against the Repubs. While I would have liked to have increased our margin in the Senate, we don't really need more Dems out there badmouthing their own party. I do not feel that it helps us overall.
