reading this all over the place to day, looks like the media once again got the fax from the white house. Americans want oversight and sorry media if that requires hearings and subpoenas, thats the way it works and you loved it when Clinton was in office. Americas want accountability an of course they want bipartisanship, it's possible to want both.

1. "it's possible to want both"
Excellent point, the either/or thing is false.

3. No one loved it when Clinton was in office, that's why we picked up seats in '98.
And if we overreach it'll be the reason we lose Congress in '08.

8. If our representatives don't confront the abuses and excesses
our party won't be seen by voters as an effective opposition. There will be plenty of opportunities to advance meaningful legislation along with the full exercise of Congress' oversight responsibilities. As Henry Reid said today, there will be supoenas, but the public shoudn't be alarmed at the legitimate exercise of their duties.

not in any way like investigating the cronyism corruption and incompetence of Bush2.

No sane person can suggest parity between the hounding of Clinton and bringing mad dog bush to rule of law.

11. The media is scared shitless that the American people
will find how deep the rabbit hole goes--and how it ends in many of their own bank accounts.
It will be the final nail in the coffin for many of these talking heads whose lifestyles inside the beltway trump their own desire to tell the truth.

13. The Media is Just a Wall Keeping Us Away From the Corporate Center of Power
When Republicans took over the Congress, 1994, it was a "Republican Revolution," "the country is getting more conservative," all over the media. Now that we have won, of course, it is NOT a "Democratic Revolution," and the country is NOT "getting more liberal/progressive." It just flips this way and that. Now, it is, "They don't really want Democrats, they are just angry at Republicans," yet none of them said, 1994, "No one really wants Republicans, they are just angry at Clinton." They claim that all the Democrats who won are "more conservative" than even moderate Republicans--(yet give no examples for this bizarre claim, and ignore people like Sherrod Brown, etc.)--yet give no explanation as to why every State that had it, passed overwhelmingly a minimum wage raise, and every State that had it, defeated an attempt to restrict abortion rights. They claim the new group is "conservative," yet if you listen to them, Webb of Virginia talks about "economic fairness and social justice," and sounds fabulous, and Claire McCaskill said Harry Truman would have been outraged at Bush pretending to be "like Truman," and that Truman would have told Bush where to go, with very clear language. As soon as I was able to get past the corporate Republican media spin--"We didn't really lose at all!" "Only people like us can win!"--and listen to the new candidates, they are really impressive. They are middle class populists, reformers, they are us, and the new era of anti-conservative, anti-corporate Democratic governance has begun.
