OK, so I saw this Raw Story article, "Liberal bloggers pushing hard for filibuster":
http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Liberal_bloggers_pushing_hard_for_filibuster_0128.htmland it had a quote from Daily Kos saying "Even the DLC is calling for a filibuster."
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/1/28/173240/728I thought the DLC was opposed to a filibuster, and sure enough, that's what they say here:
http://www.dlc.org/ndol_ci.cfm?kaid=131&subid=192&contentid=253692A bunch of folks on Daily Kos thought the same thing, but some pointed out that is an old article (1/24) and maybe Kos had some newer, inside info. If he does, he's not saying.
So I checked out
http://www.democrats.com/alito-48Lo and behold, it also says the DLC supports the filibuster! Here's the link it gives:
http://newdonkey.blogspot.com/2006/01/playing-hand-thats-dealt-you.htmlNow here we have "If we are to have a filibuster, let it be one that is short on senatorial bloviation, and long on clear and concise persuasion. And if nothing else, maybe the debate will complicate Bush's State of the Union Address."
Not having heard of newdonkey, a bit more sleuthing revealed "What is NewDonkey.com? It's an unofficial weblog sponsored by the Democratic Leadership Council"
http://newdonkey.blogspot.com/2004/08/what-is-newdonkeycom.htmlOK, so does that mean the DLC "unofficially" supports a filibuster? And now they are pining for a good old-fashioned one?
http://newdonkey.blogspot.com/2006/01/filibuster-nostalgia.htmlI'm a little confused why they don't update their official page, or is this some sort of stealth thing, or is this just the wishy-washyness that is the DLC?
Thoughts?
