DLC OK with filibuster now???
OK, so I saw this Raw Story article, "Liberal bloggers pushing hard for filibuster":
http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Liberal_bloggers_pushing_hard_for_filibuster_0128.html
and it had a quote from Daily Kos saying "Even the DLC is calling for a filibuster."
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/1/28/173240/728

I thought the DLC was opposed to a filibuster, and sure enough, that's what they say here:
http://www.dlc.org/ndol_ci.cfm?kaid=131&subid=192&contentid=253692

A bunch of folks on Daily Kos thought the same thing, but some pointed out that is an old article (1/24) and maybe Kos had some newer, inside info. If he does, he's not saying.

So I checked out http://www.democrats.com/alito-48
Lo and behold, it also says the DLC supports the filibuster! Here's the link it gives:
http://newdonkey.blogspot.com/2006/01/playing-hand-thats-dealt-you.html

Now here we have "If we are to have a filibuster, let it be one that is short on senatorial bloviation, and long on clear and concise persuasion. And if nothing else, maybe the debate will complicate Bush's State of the Union Address."

Not having heard of newdonkey, a bit more sleuthing revealed "What is NewDonkey.com? It's an unofficial weblog sponsored by the Democratic Leadership Council"
http://newdonkey.blogspot.com/2004/08/what-is-newdonkeycom.html

OK, so does that mean the DLC "unofficially" supports a filibuster? And now they are pining for a good old-fashioned one? http://newdonkey.blogspot.com/2006/01/filibuster-nostalgia.html

I'm a little confused why they don't update their official page, or is this some sort of stealth thing, or is this just the wishy-washyness that is the DLC?

Thoughts?

2. So interesting....
If there's enough groups against it, we may very well get somewhere. Let's keep up the pressure guys!

3. They are going along grouchily apparently.
New Donkey appears to be at least. The hard core DLC does not appear to have changed. Their two bloggers are New Donkey and Bull Moose.

Here is New Donkey's latest. Sort of accepting, not really approving.

5. If the DLC is going along with it, I say what do they know that I dont.

To me they are much like the Republicans whatever they say, I do the direct opposite.

DLCers, from the ones I have observed, seem to be perhaps more than anything individuals who will do or say anything to remain in their positions of power and prestige, in order to maintain a certain lifestyle, maintain a level of faux/illusory prestige and they don't give a damn what ocean is rising, what economy is being eighty-sixed, and how many fathers, mothers and children are dying in Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries.

That's just not scheduled in their Daytimer.

6. The DLC is all about "stealth"...

it's something they learned well from their counterparts in the Republican Party -- The Neo-Cons. Nobody saw them coming until it was too late, either. Newt and his "boys" took over in a bloodless coup that has transformed this government into what it is today, and the DLC is out to do the same to our Party, using the same tactics.

Just remember... Ronald Reagan was a LIBERAL DEMOCRAT, the head of one of the most liberal Unions in America -- the Screen Actors Guild before he went over to the dark side. When he left, he was asked why he left the Democratic Party. He said, "I didn't leave the Party, it left me." Words to think about, and said by the man who became the grand-daddy to Newt and his vermin.

DO NOT LET THE DLC TAKE THIS PARTY AWAY FROM US. RESIST THEM! RESIST THEIR POLICIES! RESIST THEIR CANDIDATES!!!!

Today, of all days, when the Democrats finally show a bit of the old fight and courage, remember it is the DLC who is calling for surrender -- again. RESIST THEM!

TC
