I certainly hope so. I'm concerned that those people who have just been elected or re-elected will comport themselves in a manner of pride, decency and ethics! The ball is in our court and we must take care not to drop it! The world is watching.

4. Could we please have just one week...
...without the nags coming out of the woodwork to piss on our parade? Just one week to savor our victory, and relish what it will mean? One week where we anticipate holding the current bunch of vile, corrupt, and vicious REPUBLICANS accountable for the evils they have wrought??? CAN WE NOT ENJOY OUR VICTORY FIRST?

Geez.

10. Sorry if I hit a nerve....
But I think we need to now get down to the business of governing and be diligent in not giving "THEM" any and all ammunition that they will use in the next 2 years prior to the '08 election. God knows they will with their ownership of the MSM.
We have to keep close watch.

Of course I'm celebrating. I'm pleased as punch. Couldn't get a bigger smile on my face if I tried. But, I'm also realistic and very cautious of the Right-Wing hatred that lurks out there.

I'm an ex-Kansan who has been living in the SF Bay Area for over 30 years. I still keep in contact with some of my old high school friends there and there is nothing that one can say to 'those people' that will ever take the blinders off. One (or more) mis-step by the Dems is all they are salivating for. The '08 elections are really right around the corner.

13. Sorry I reacted so harshly...
...I do try to avoid overreacting, it's just been so long since we really had something to celebrate.

Of course you're right on the principle; we do need to take a higher road. This should not be hard considering how low a road our opponents have taken for the last six years and more.

We might start with that Jefferson Williams guy (not sure I have the name right) -- you remember, the Democrat who got caught with the $10K in his freezer -- looks like he may have been reelected. He is one who I would have NO problem with holding his feet to the fire.

 back atcha!

18. I totally agree with you. We've got a lot of 'muck' to clean up.
I'm concerned with a post I read yesterday (I'm so old now I can't remember who or which one it was- dammit), but it was about the 2 guys (Murtha and Hoyer) having some baggage? We need a very clean start!!

Again - I understand how you feel. I'm over the moon - but afraid of shooting ourselves in the foot.

Have a good day!!

5. Of course. I've already written Maria Cantwell informing her of this.
Just because she got re-elected doesn't mean she can do whatever she wants. She will continue to hear from me in all sorts of ways. Yes, continue to be in contact with them and let them know.

7. We've got to...
Progressives have volunteered, blogged and financially supported this Party to victory, against a fortress of lies, distortions, media indifference and voter fraud. And the Dems have got to represent Democratic values.

8. I vow to do so, how about you?
I don't care what stripe it wears, if they start working in their own interests rather than 'the People's', I will call them on it and work for change.

9. OMG!
I just realized, well really truly realized, that I have a Democratic Congresswoman who I know and can write to and she will actually respond. It has been years and years. You bet we will write her, I know that everyone in this area who worked so hard to make this happen will hold her feet to the fire.

11. Wow!!
Doesn't it feel good to think that you might actually be LISTENED to? I'm in a heavily Blue No. California area - so I feel as if I've been disenfranchised from the rest of the country for the past 6 years. I'm preaching to the choir here.
Congratulations to your victory!!!

14. oh hell yes
I personally decided not to complain about one of my torture-enabling senators til after the election because I wanted the nonrepublican majority.

But I'm all for hounding the ones that screw up, without mercy, in the hopes that someone will run against them in the next primary.

And I have no intention of sitting back and drinking champagne for a week before that starts. 19 US troops were killed in the last week. I'm not going to celebrate while another 19 are killed next week.

Those half-circles you see by their names are D's, not halos.

17. We better
Or the Repukes will be back with a vengeance in 2008. And the first place to go is corruption. No more paid lobbyists allowed to even TALK to Dems, no more earmarks, no more sneaking bills through in the middle of the night, etc. Clean it up and make it ILLEGAL to use earmarks, etc.
