34. Exactly
You have to hold hearings and than show what you found and see where to go from there. We all know the truth but not many people do so Mrs. Pelosi doesn't want to show her hand and give fuel to the fire.

23. Believe me, Bush and Cheney will do something to put it back on the table.
The American people may not have a stomach for it right now, but just wait for some more thwarting of the Constitution.

25. Bingo - I can see the press conference now.
I can see the press conference now, "While I said that impeachment is off the table back in November of 2006, the shocking facts that have come out of these hearings shows simply and clearly that the White House has been criminally abusing power and has violated the Constitution on numerous occasions that fit the textbook definition of high crimes and misdemeanors. I feel that I am constitutionally obligated to hold impeachment hearings."

that would be pretty stupid.

3. We can't impeach until investigations start.
Technically, there's nothing right now. No one's done any investigative work. That'll change.

8. Perhaps the investigations need to start first.
Have faith - Bush will be cast upon the trash heap of history soon enough, and she can help cement his place, impeachment or not.

10. Murtha just said that there
would be investigations and accountability. The call for impeachment may come from the public when they come to know all that has happened and it may be overwhelming. Remember most of public doesn't know have all the information that we have here at DU, this will all come as a shock to them. Let the investigations get going and then let's see what she says.

20. I agree. There's no need to come out and say
"Our first order of business is impeachment".

Public outrage will force Republicans to bring it up just to save themselves. (Hopefully)

Impeachment is a tough sell. Censure is not
After hearings into the process that led us into war is completely appropriate and successfully handcuffs Bush for the next two years.

She needs to STFU about that and when asked about impeachment, just say "What for?...Tell me why you think he should be impeached."

14. Because it IS
and it should be.

this is what the new GOP Congress did in '94. They went right after Clinton and tied things up with impeachment. I know that there is plenty of REASON to impeach the Chimperor as opposed to Clinton,
but the votes are not in the Senate and the effort can be better spent elsewhere

Better to investigate election fraud, missing billion$ in Iraq, and the leadership in the Pentagon; better to focus on restoring the Constitution and Bill of Rights and implementing the 9/11 Commission's recommendations for our security.

I hope she would not sell out America for her own ascension.

I cannot understand why and who she has made this compliance with?

30. It's off the table until the evidence compels them to impeach.
That evidence will be forthcoming shortly. About one investigation should do it, perhaps only the process of carrying out the 9/11 commission's recommendations will do it. That way, they can say it's out of their hands and not seem vindictive.

35. Who needs impeachment?
Let them resign, and then they can be prosecuted and sentenced.

Impeachment just gets them out of office.

I want them out of office and in prison.
