He'll whine and plead and make a giant fuss. He might even say there were voting irregularities that put Webb in the lead.

And he'll kick ass and put people in head locks and throw them to the ground.

And maybe control of the senate will be at stake. Hm, could this lead to civil war or martial law?

7. i don't believe so
we're in for a recount. hopefully it was mostly Webb votes that voted absentee.

Tonight has been a serious rollercoaster for me. I need to get to bed. But Claire McCaskill's comeback from earlier still has me in shock a bit.

Today was a good day.

22. Webb should challenge Macaca to a boxing match and just finish that loser off
Hey - the Freepers love some violence....that would excite them and they might actually gain respect for Webb....

Allen is a loser and can't even lose graciously....so let him go down in flames. My prediction is that when the evidence about voter suppression and intimidation in VA start being revealed in detail, with possibly links to Allen's campaign, he'll be told that its over...his Senate bid and any future office aspirations, particularly the ones at 1600 Pennsylvania....

31. LOOK at Petersburg! 78.98% for Webb!
Petersburg 8/8
Webb 5,944 78.98%
Allen 1,487 19.76%
Parker 95 1.26%

I would like to see the percentage of turnout.
A lot of our bluer areas seem to have low voter turnout. What can we do to fix this before 2008?

My precinct in NOVA had a 52.77% turnout, but we only went 56.4% for Webb.
My former precinct in NOVA had 35% turnout and went 66.3% for Webb.
Stats for all of the 226 precincts in Fairfax County.
Fairfax 226/226
Webb 201,905 58.97%
Allen 137,222 40.08%
Parker 3,270 .96%
At this time, it looks like the Absentee and provisional votes have not yet been posted. They are not counted at the precincts.

The unofficial results are here:

40. Petersburg has a high African-American percentage
which is the same reason that Southside counties of Brunswick, Greensville, Surry and Sussex usually vote Democratic, as well as the independent cities of Emporia and Franklin. What I find most unusual is that lily white Russell, Dickenson, and Buchanan counties in far Southwest gave majorities to Webb and Democrats usually win there. Yet most other mountain counties are solidly Republican.

34. That's a difference of 6,859 votes
It will be hard for Macaca Allen to overcome that margin in a recount, especially with the computerized vote counting machines that Virginia uses. The count should be exactly the same (unless someone "tweaks" one of the memory cards between now and the recount - don't count that possibility out).

The 26,000+ votes for the Green Party candidate could have helped Webb... (just sayin', so please don't flame me!)

George Allen in 2008?

Posted on 11/08/2006 2:31:07 AM EST by NapkinUser

Does (almost certainly) losing the Virginia senate election give George Allen more time to campaign for 2008, like Romney and Frist both stepping down does?

Gingrich/Allen 2008!

And some of the love from the other FReeks:

Win or lose, George Allen's future political career is over. He'll never be anything but Senator again - if he somehow manages to eke a win out (which doesn't look likely).

Why not have two GOP losers on the same ticket, Burns and Allen. Say goodnight, Gracie.

Go to sleep, or go to a bar. Really!

Change your handle back to CrackUser

Give me a break----You must be dense! He just got slaughtered in the press, and he's losing his election.
