911 to 117

Like 911, 117 changed the world. America woke up to the realities of global citizenship. On 911 we recoiled in fear and allowed our nation to be taken advantage of. On 117 we took back America in the best way we know, by voting. No tricks, no special judicial intervention required, we simply voted in large numbers to turn back the tide of corruption that had invaded our nation.

On 911 I watched in horror the building collapse via broadband video piped into a cube of a IT infrastructure architect at Harley Davidison's corporate headquarters. As the first building fell the person turned to the crowd with tears in his eyes, he mouthed a few words but I could not tell what he was saying. We all watched in silence as the building collapsed.

We all will never forget 911. But we can't let that event continue to dictate how we live our lives. As we must not forget 911, we all must not forget 117, because this is the day that America grew up. We cast aside the regressionist policies of the past and recognized we need to work together to move this nation forward, not backward. We need to be open and honest in our governance from here on out. We can no longer accept less from our elected officials.

Change has come and it has been a long time coming. I welcome it. I started "Where Are The Weapons" as a vehicle to express my thoughts and feelings about our nation at war. Much of what has occurred in our nation is touched on in the archives. Starting with the "Peace Movement Shout: "Where Are the Weapons!", this blog has simply been my outlet to express the undercurrent of dissent in this nation since 911.

It is early yet. But I write this after watching the returns and it appeared clear that the Democrats would regain control of the house. The senate may also turn as well it was 48 to 48 when I last checked and the Democrats were confident that it was turning. Congratulations to all. It has been a long difficult battle, truth has finally prevailed.

Despite the gains there have been some set backs. Wisconsin looked as of 11:00 p.m. to of passed the marriage amendment that would ban same sex marriages and any contract similar to marriage for any couple. This is a personal affront to me. It slaps that face of all people and forces a view point and definition of life from a narrow group influenced by corporate republican cronyism. the money was there for state senators to use if they towed the line for this issue. The RNC paid their dept to the Evangelical Christians by funding campaigns at the state level for support in state marriage protection amendments. this is the fallout from a corrupt devious Republican election machine. A machine that has no real values. Corrupt and conniving to the end they still achieve a victory not unlike a bomb strapped to a corpse on a dusty road in Iraq.
