Alito is a "nightmare"
Someone on the Young Turks, this morning, made me realize where the Democrats are completely wussy. He said "Alito is a nightmare." One sentence, short and sweet, and it has that metaphor/myth thing going with it. Or "Alito is a nightmare that will make the president a dictator," if you will -- if you must expand.

Every Democrat from top to bottom of the chain (except for sen. judicial committee, who should have kept silent) should have been repeating this NON FUCKING STOP for the last three or four weeks. Not this "unitary executive theory" discussion, or wishy-washy, some-dems-should-support-him-so-we-don't-look-partisan.

Say it calmly, over and over again: "Alito is a nightmare." The pukes would have done it, and acted with hubris and got their fucking way. What is wrong with this party?

1. They can't say that any more than they can say "lied" instead of "misled".

Or, I hope you do...

:)

I don't know why people think that watering stuff down gives them any edge.

3. They're afraid of being called obstinate by the Repubs. They worry more
about what the Repubs think of them than their own base, I guess.

6. It is because the Democratic Party, as a whole (and specifically
it's "leaders") cannot recognize, or refuses to recognize, what is taking place in this country. The Democrats seem to feel that this is all just "business as usual" and that the Republicans are basically "good Americans, who want the best for this country". The Democrats don't seem to get it that this is the early stages of one-party rule in this country. The Democrats seem to think that if they just play along they will come back into power - because there isn't that much difference between the two parties. The Democrats in power think that the Republicans are just like Democrats, just with a different agenda and different "takes" on issues. The Democrats in power and the DLC think that they can still beat the Republicans in "elections" and so are trying to maintain what they see as an "electable position". Pitiful delusions is all they have left. The elections this fall will be the watershed event. The Republicans will probably "win", but even if the Democrats take back both Houses, they will"work the Bush" - count on it...

Dems not to. The Repubs exclude Dems, will not provide documents, hold secret meetings, extend votes while they threaten and bribe more votes out of their own. They work around and against Democrats and deny the citizens, but the Democrats are very nice, very diplomatic and just go on to the next abuse while everyone knows that the Repubs would never act or react the way they want the Dems to act.

The Houses are led by unethical and criminal slime and yet Democrats are expected to jump, acquiesce, and shut up all the while they say 'my friend', ' my colleague' and observe the old and new rules and new demands of the Republicans.

Some of our Dems are forever silent while they let a handful of Dems protest and respond - the ones who are mostly in the House, plus Kennedy and Boxer. Some absolutely work against the Dems like Leiberman and Biden, the favorites of the right wing media - for a reason.

They want Dems to stay in the past while they move into a world of theft and lies in Congress that parallels the theft and lies of the right wing Executive, Judicial, and Corporate, Military, Banking, Media, and Religious play callers.

To put it simply, the Democrats are being railroaded and they are playing nice. They seem to be bargaining endlessly. Do they have a plan to preserve their minority status or are they going to stay in their abusive relationship?

They can get up in front of the cameras or journalists and say whatever they want, but only the already dedicated and somewhat knowledgea people who watch C-Span will see it. They must demand air time. They must demand that DLC, Leiberman, Biden stay hom. They must stop apologizing. They must get the help of any Democratic think tanks that are out there to help out.

We must not let the Republicans decimate the reputation of Move On. We must support PFAW and all the other groups who work so hard. We must dictate to our Dem leaders and demand that they control who speaks for us and they demand equal face time or make news on the Democracy Now programs.

We must thank them for the time they are taking to call into various Air America Radio programs and urge them to tell it like it is when they do call. We must demand that those leaders who are not calling in - do.
