Coulter Refuses to Cooperate in Voting Probe (felony charge)
Will she be in the Men's cell?

http://articles.news.aol.com/news/_a/coulter-refuses-to-cooperate-in-voting/20061101151909990004?ncid=NWS00010000000001

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 1) - Conservative columnist Ann Coulter has refused to cooperate in an investigation into whether she voted in the wrong precinct, so the case will probably be turned over to prosecutors, Palm Beach County's elections chief said Wednesday.

Elections Supervisor Arthur Anderson said his office has been looking into the matter for nearly nine months, and he would turn over the case to the state attorney's office by Friday.

Coulter's attorney did not immediately return a call Wednesday. Nor did her publicist at her publisher, Crown Publishing.

Knowingly voting in the wrong precinct is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

1. I have to wonder, if she knowingly voted in the wrong precinct
if she maybe ALSO voted in the correct one.

Vote early, vote often.

2. Didn't this happen to Michael Moore?
I though he had something similar happen to him a few years back. He was registered in a few different states I think. Did anything ever come out of it?

5. This could easily happen ....
if you move around a bit : You dont call to cancel registration ...

The key word here is 'knowingly' ....

Did Michael Moore vote in a precinct knowing it was NOT the precinct in which he resided ? ....

This is a DIFFERENT question than : "Did Ann Coulter vote in a precinct knowing it was NOT the precinct in which she resided ?" ....

6. Who cares, let's go back twenty years and see if anyone else
ever did this in their lifetime. Then, we can give Ann a pass because at sometime in the past somebody else did it. This is typical repuke logic. Hitler gassed Jews too should we let the bushes do it? Mommy, the kid next door did it, why can't I.

11. No
A lot of people are registered in two ore more states because they move, re-register in their new state, and the old state of residence is slow to get around purging them from the rolls. That is not a crime. Actually voting in two states, though, is a felony.

15. nice try, but no -- not even close...
Moore registered to vote in Michigan before New York had gotten around to cancelling his old voter registration. Moore did NOT try to vote in a precinct he wasn't entitled to vote in; that's what Coulter did (and where she did it, it's a felony). That's why Coulter is under investigation, and Moore isn't: she committed vote fraud, and he didn't.

So your attempt to smear a good progressive fails, "Ellis Wyatt". Too bad.

20. yes
every question is an attempt to smear someone. That's right. To hell with independent thought. How dare I ever try to get my facts straight on a messageboard by asking a question for clarification about a "good progressive".

16. Good God!
What the hell is wrong with you people? This is the second time I've had people on this board jump down my throat because I asked a question. I thought I had heard something about Moore. The first respondant answered ideally. He filled in the missing data. The rest of you acted like nazis trying to kill me because you thought I may be an interloper.

I was not "assassinating" anyone's character, I simply asked a God-damned question. And because of that, I'm now linked to Bush?

Quit being retarded and trying to brand everyone as a republican.

25. Welcome to DU
You ain't officially welcomed til somebody leaves bootprints in your stomach lining, know what I mean?

Anyway, it's near the election and some folks tend to get paranoid around the newer people - on heightened troll alert.

I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, though, and other folks shouldn't be so ready to bring out the big guns.

Just keep a thick skin and remember it's just a message board. Remaining civil can go a long way, even if you feel you are being unfairly attacked.

27. Also Moore, as you know, is the whipping boy of
the right wing, so we are quick, maybe too quick to come to his defense.

We do have problems with trolls from some of the Republican web sites.

Just hang in. Things will calm down after the election. Many of us are dead on our feet from campaign duties.

BTW, welcome to DU. and the boot marks will wear off.

10. Doesn't this mean that she can't vote in this election?
Unless she changed her address to properly reflect her residence, doesn't that mean she can't vote or else she'd be verifiably guilty? She certainly wouldn't be able to say she didn't know she was voting in the wrong precinct.

24. The facts are being left out in these recent arti cles
She purposely registered to vote using her real estate agent's address because she didn't want her real address to be known. When she went to vote at the polling place for her residence, they didn't have her on their list. She went to the polling place for the realtor, and she wasn't listed there because of her residential address. She walked out in a huff. Now she's not cooperating with the authorities. In Florida this is a felony. Rule of law anyone?
