What goes on in the "mind" of a dittohead?

Without psychological or psychiatric training, I find it difficult to grasp how dittoheads think. And by dittohead, I mean anyone who still takes as gospel the words of Limbaugh, Bush, Hannity, O'Reilly, Coulter, or any of the other lowlife who spout the daily Republican talking points.

A bad analogy might be Charley Brown trying to kick the football. He knows that Lucy is going to pull it away, but time and again, he still believes he's going to get to kick it. The great Charles Schulz kept this part of Charley Brown's belief system going for 50 years and we always knew he'd never get to kick it.

This is the kindest interpretation I can put on right wing self-deluded people who time and again think that the Republicans are doing something ... anything for them.

After being screwed over so many times by their own party, you would think they'd start to suspect that something is wrong. But, like Charlie Brown, they keep trying to kick that football every time elections roll around.

I can't grasp what these people are thinking or how they can go on lying to themselves over and over and over again. My closest guess is that they are victims of "cult-think."

Actually, it's about people whose perceptions of themselves were WAY off. To put it bluntly and very UN-PC, they were so stupid they didn't know how stupid they were.

These are those kids on American Idol, who thought they could sing or dance, and are genuinely shocked and truly hurt to find out that they suck.

These are the people who are CONSTANTLY wrong about things, proven so time and time again, yet can't understand why their opinions aren't eagerly sought...or why their decisons or actions constantly get them into trouble.
It's ALWAYS someone else's fault when things go wrong...
and they honestly DO believe this.

This can be ameliorated IF the person can be brought to realize that they're not as smart as they think they are...but that's the tricky part.
