Donate to Alia Ansari memorial fund.
For those interested.

I know when the story first broke there was a great deal of discussion about this brave woman, her life and her death.

Here is a chance to help those she left behind.

CAIR-SFBA Action Alert: Attend Memorial Services Friday & Saturday

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (CAIR-SFBA), is urging the community to donate to Alia Ansari's Memorial Fund, established a day after she was gunned down in Fremont.

The fund has been set up for the husband and six children that Ansari left behind.

On Friday, October 20, the CAIR-SFBA staff attended the vigil held for Ansari, and visited the family at their home near Glenmoor Drive. The family is understandably grieving Ansari's death, with their primary concern being her children, who are aged 2-13 .

To donate to a fund for the Ansari children, checks can be made to the "Ansari Family'' at Washington Mutual, account No. 3091558830, and at Fremont Bank, account No. 55041477.

We call on you to donate generously to Ansari's Memorial Fund, and support the family in their time of need. We also request you remember Alia Ansari and the family in your prayers.

1. thanks for posting this
this crime was terrible. and i am not sure that this was a random "hate crime" brought on by a reaction to her attire. Fremont has a huge Afghani population, and is VERY multi-cultural, with a significantly large population of Middle Eastern and South Asian people. people just don't get harassed here for wearing hijab and/or being Muslim.

from the very start of hearing about this crime, i thought that the likelihood of the cause being some kind of revenge within her family and/or immediate community, was more possible than the "nutter hate crime" version.

the "person of interest" the police are holding, is being held on previous violations, and his connection to this crime is that a witness identified his car. the "poi" is not Muslim. there has also been some talk about some Afghani gang activity recently in the area with tagging that is related to the crime. i could be totally wrong here, but gang activity of many ethnicities is somewhat prevalent in Fremont. i'm guessing that the "poi" is a gang member from another ethnicity, who was paid or otherwise negotiated with to actually do the crime, by people connected with the Afghani gang.

like i said, i could be wrong. but i'm just not buying that a woman in hijab was shot in broad daylight outside a school, just because a nutter doesn't like Muslims. not in Fremont, anyway. anything's possible, but the "official" story on this crime, what there is of it anyway, just doesn't add up for me.

It way it went down as well as the where. The close range of the attack makes it sound as if it were personal to the shooter.

I live in rural Indiana and this makes me worry about my wife and daughters who wear hijab.

Peace.
