Consider civil disobedience if your Dem vote changes to Republican
This will not apply to everyone, but if I lived in a state where voting machines did this, I would refuse to walk away from the machine. What good is it to report this later when there is no evidence? I advocate non-violent resistance - bring a cell phone, start making calls, and stay put the machine is taken out of service and the problem reported to election officials who come onsite and reported to the press. This is vote theft and it should not be tolerated.

1. How would you know?
Unless it's just a glitch - but assuming it wasn't "Oh i pressed the wrong button" how would you know? Or are you referencing something particular?

10. Some people have seen it change before their eyes.
I assume the OP means situations like that.

12. That does seem more like a glitch than a hack though
I guess there's no difference, but if I were going to steal an election I wouldn't want to send up any flags.

17. The glitch could be the result of hacking.
Either way, it's critical that the machine be locked down and examined - a glitch is no more acceptable than outright theft.

Stay Until You Can Cast YOUR Vote
Because you are owed a vote and you can not cast it on a machine that misreads your intention. Demand a working machine.

2. That is a solid, sensible plan.
Don't just walk away. Don't go crazy either. Stand firm and draw attention to the problem.

3. Absolutely...
If they steal this I say we all take part in civil disobedience. Enough is enough!

5. I cannot give you the specifics
but in 2004 I heard of a state where this happened before the voters eyes. A vote for Kerry resulted in a popup screen that said Bush. That's the situtation I was thinking of. I'm sure there are many more that the voter can't tell.

6. I have video on my cell phone
I will start filming just prior to entering my vote, that way i won't be called a conspiracy nut if something goes wrong.

And i will probably knock a few things over.

8. NOPE
Back in the day, we dirtyhippiecommiepinkobums used to be there for each other, and civil disobedience was supported and those who chose that path were kept in touch with, to make sure they were OK.

That's not the case anymore. It's everyone for themselves, and if someone is arrested, nobody even bothers to find out who they are, and where they are taken.

NOPE.... when we get back to doing things in a community way, then yes. Until then, I don't suffer in isolation.

Time to do some thinking about what we're really about, and what we're trying to create.

recall elections. If they fold too fast, then it's up to us to demand that the candidate pursue this. We will of course have to give them money for legal action, but we can't let the BFEE get away with this again.

11. Yup, our "demands" worked so well the last time....
I wish I had your hopefulness, Cleita, but I'm just too scarred by the lackadaisical blow-it-off of the Dems recent past.

Oh well, it won't be long now to see the outcome of this...

I hope anyway.

15. I'm with Bobby Kennedy, Jr.
He said 100% of Republicans are corrupt, and 75% of Dems are corrupt.

I can believe it, and he's quite knowledgeable about the system.

Those odds don't bode well...

Wish there was an emoticon for crossed fingers, cuz I'd post it for ya. :hi:

Really, I hope you're right, but I fear ...... that 75%....

16. There's a few new Dems running against entrenched Repubs.
If they win or if they fight to win, they might change that to 50% corrupt. Again, I hope.

the problem if you have one. (Gee I didn't have anything but ID with me, so I don't know if they'll confiscate it, they might.)
