The Democratic Underground Administrators are pleased to announce our new Video Forum. Now you can watch all the latest political video in ONE PLACE, collected and posted by your fellow DU members.

Features of the Video Forum

1. Content is selected and posted by all the members of Democratic Underground. The combined efforts of the DU members will help insure that the content of the forum is always fresh, relevant, and up-to-date.

2. Videos are embedded right in the thread, so you don't have to leave Democratic Underground to watch.

3. Automatic duplicate checking, so videos with the same URL won't be posted over and over and over again.

4. Videos can be embedded into your DU Journals.

5. Recommend videos for the Greatest Page and the DU homepage.

6. Reply to video threads just like regular threads - discuss the videos with your friends.

You can access the DU video forum from the Latest Page or the Lobby. Look for it below the Editorials & Other Articles forum.

17. Are You Guys Open To A Quick Question/Suggestion?

I just went to the forum and it's already filled with some awesome stuff. This was truly a great idea. What I'm curious of; though I know it could take too much altering of the forum to make it worthwhile, is if there could be a column with the estimated run-time. Of course, this input wouldn't be required and could be null if not entered, but it would be a great quick way to know just what we're gettin ourselves into prior to clicking on the link. Should we block out some time, grab a cup of coffee and kick our feet up? Or are there a quick 5 or 6 ads/funny clips that are less than a minute each that we can quickly jump through? Etc.

Would be a cool way of knowing what we're dealing with prior to having to go inside the thread and scanning to see if it is detailed there somewhere.

Just wondering. :)

We discussed it beforehand and decided to take a wait-and-see approach. We wanted it to be as simple as possible for people to use.

But, as I said, we still might do it. After using the video forum for an hour, I am already wishing for that feature.

Crooks and Liars and other websites often have great videos: Are we permitted to post threads in the Video Forum that have just a link to another website with an explanation/description, just as we normally do in GD, the Lounge, and elsewhere?

So direct-linking to crooks and liars is not really an option.

and HTML text as well as Google bombing, I will now need to know how to upload my videos to YouTube.

Don't laugh too hard, things that come easy to one generation are not quite as easily assimilated by the older ones.

However, I love this medium and I will be studious where others are facile.

What the "views" function is showing is the number of times a particular discussion thread has been viewed.

We need people who can make WMP and QT videos for rapid responses...like this Kerry issue...and post the links online - like Crooks and Liars does.

Those DUers with You Tube accounts could then download the files, and upload to our respective YT accounts to get OUR message out.
