REMINDER to EVERYONE: ASK FOR PAPER BALLOTS!! Do Not Settle for Election Fraud!
Edited on Mon Oct-30-06 12:47 PM by The Cleaner
According to one Du'er the election fraud has already begun:

We must nip this in the bud. Remember when you go to vote to ask for PAPER BALLOTS. But do not accept provisional ballots, apparently they are not counted.

It is disturbing that we ALREADY have Dem votes flipping to Repub votes.

Please keep kicked and rate this sucker up. Save our democracy!

3. That IS how it's done here in Ga. I've seen them entering them
while waiting in line to vote the last two times.

2. I think they will only hand you a provisional ballot ??
I am not sure, but if all they have are the machines...the only paper ballot is
the provisional ballot.... and I don't believe thats even counted !

Correct me if I am wrong please

4. no
I voted in Collin County, TX (DALLAS) on Saturday and I requested a paper ballot. It was a legitimate ballot. It is counted.

Rage against the (Diebold vote-rigging) machines!!!!

7. Do not ask for paper provisional ballots -- they will not be counted
Many paper provisional ballots will not be counted because they are challenged and if they have an error in them (even a small one) they will be discarded.

When I early voted in Larimer County, CO, you had the choice between using a touchscreen machine and filling out an optical scan ballot. The optical scan ballots were real, not provisional ballots, and I submitted mine the same way I submitted mine in 2004.

Other places may have different rules - some may allow or even encourage paper ballots, some may not.

15. I'm handicapped.
It's in the Texas election code that they have to give me a paper ballot if I ask. moviegirl99 and another DUer were discussing it here the other day. I'm even taking a copy of the code to show them, along with my handicapped parking tag.

If they refuse to give me paper, I believe I'll have grounds for a lawsuit against Rockwall County and the state of Texas (fat lot of good I'll get out of it with all Repubs in power, but it would draw attention to the issue).

First time in my life I've thanked God for MS.

option. I wish they'd make the same rules applicable across the state and country. So many different rules could also be confusing enough for people not to vote.

17. Yeah, I know.
When I went to vote last time, they told me I had to vote on the machine. But I wasn't educated about this last time. You can be damn sure I'll be using it!

8. Psssst.... election fraud. Not voter fraud.
The fraud is within the election. The voter is not perpetuating the fraud (on purpose, anyway).

9. Can't do it in Maryland.
If you're on the voter roll you have to use the machines. Having no trust in them is not one of the nine approved reasons for using a provisional ballot.

12. California: Paper ballots MANDATED
If you're in CA, DEMAND a paper ballot. If you're refused, REPORT IT. The info is below:

************

Great news! Expect paper ballots at all polling places!

In response to public concern about the insecurity and unreliability of electronic voting systems,
the Secretary of State's office has issued a memo to all California Registrars of Voters,
requiring them to provide paper ballots at the polls for any voter who wishes to cast a paper ballot rather than cast a vote electronically. This is a big deal: the wall of denial about the electronic voting systems has finally been penetrated.

As a PollworkerforDemocracy, we wanted to make sure that you are aware of this development, and if the county training does not teach you how to provide paper ballots, you may want to raise the question with your registrar. Perhaps you will want to print out the document and take a copy to your county training, if you have not already been trained.

This is a short memo. Read it here:
http://www.votetrustusa.org/pdfs/California_Folder/CASos_SusanLapsley_PaperBallotsMemo_100306.pdf

Briefly, it states:
"...all county elections officials shall have an adequate supply of paper ballots, as determined by the elections official, available at the voting locations for use in the event of a temporary loss of the ability to use electronic equipment, or if a voter chooses not to vote on electronic equipment.

This backup supply can be absentee ballots or other option as determined to be reasonable by the elections official..."

We look forward to a successful day in the polls. Thank you for volunteering!
