CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Calls Out Lynne Cheney For ‘Sniping At My Patriotism’

On Friday, Lynne Cheney repeatedly attacked CNN for having a liberal bias during a combative appearance on the Situation Room. At one point, she criticized CNN for “running terrorist tapes, terrorists shooting Americans” and asked Wolf Blitzer, “Do you want us to win?” She also repeatedly asked Blitzer to end his line of questioning and focus on her new children’s book.

Today on CNN’s Late Edition, Blitzer said he was “surprised” at Cheney’s “sniping at my patriotism,” and pointed out that CNN had specifically labeled the tape of a U.S. soldier under fire as terrorist “propaganda.” He also said that CNN had made clear to Cheney’s staff “only hours before the interview” that she would be asked questions about politics during her appearance, not just about her children’s book.

Boy, you just can't throw grenades at the press like you used to huh! Remember the good ol' days, when you would growl, and they would cower? Darn, looks like these new-fangled reporters can punch back when their reputations are on the line.

Maybe the props Wolfie got from Lou Dobbs for getting Lynn to bare her fangs and show what "power bridling at truth being spoken to power" looks like, may have straightened Mr. Blitzer's spine a tad.

Whether it lasts or not, it is nice to see these old dogs are learning some new tricks.

I don't watch much CNN. How did Wolf deal with the US tank rolling in front of that hotel in Iraq where they knew the press stayed? Did he raise an eyebrow when that tank fired on those dangerous reporters in their rooms?

They finally came for Wolf and he FINALLY gets offended. Damn, give the guy some coffee.

9. CNN anchor Carol Lin (?) was gushing over Lynne Cheney

caught he for a minute or two yesterday and she seemed to be glowing when Cheney's appearance came up. A Dem talking head started to mention Cheney's "lesbian passages" from some book she'd written and Lin cut her off and interjected s/thing like "not according to Ms Cheney". I found it a little odd.

And just because Blitzer has had an 11th hour revelation doesn't excuse anything he's done to criticize and smear any Bush opponent.

She lied when she said there were no lesbian sex scenes in her book, "Sisters."

Those excerpts have been posted here - as far back as last year. I've read them. I don't care that Lynn Cheney - or anyone - wrote a book containing same-sex love scenes. It doesn't matter. What matters, however, is that A.) She belongs to the party that hates same-sex unions and B.) She lied about what was in her book.

23. I have often thought these shows should expose previous weeks' lies

They should start with a segment called, "Who lied last week?" and show clips from the previous show followed by evidence that the guests had lied. As it is, people like Mrs. Fudd gain from their lies since they can distort discussions and avoid having to defend themselves. The hosts are seldom prepared to confront the lies right then, and the liars are not held to task for their sins in any comparable forum.

In this case, for example, Blitzer should show a clip of Mrs. Darth Vader saying that there were no lesbian encounters in her book, Sisters, and follow with excerpts that clearly show there were. Then he could say, "Is Mrs. Cheney a liar? You decide."

I would think such a segment would be quite popular.
