We don't NEED the Senate to celebrate!!!
For me I don't think it is super-important that we win the Senate. At a minimum, we will win four seats in the Senate, we WILL take the house, we WILL control the governors, and we are TAKING back the House.

Bush has run this country into the ground, and two years of a Democratic Congress won't repair the damage. It is going to take DECADES to undo what he has done both financially and foreign policy-wise.

A house that simply makes passing his agendas impossible won't fix anything, but at this point, keeping the little shit head from doing more damage by blocking his agenda is of the utmost importance.

If we don't win the Senate, but take the House and the governors, RELAX, pop a nice bottle of wine, and sit back and enjoy. The worse will be over. Of course, taking the Senate would be great, but just winning ONE Chamber of Congress is enough to fluster the little prick and his cronies.

3. We need the Senate
in case Bush gets another Supreme Court nominee. If he gets to replace a liberal with a conservative, it would be a disaster for many, many years. this country would be destroyed. I think the Senate is more important than the House.

4. Oh Absolutely. Doing Either Would've Been A Dream A Few Years Ago, And
the Senate has been considered a long shot from the get go. To have the Senate so close right now that we have a chance of taking the majority there as well is amazing in and of itself! The House I'm hoping we definitely take back, and am confident we will. When we do, I'll be celebrating my friggin ass off!

6. .
In a way I agree. At the moment, I guess that I'd be very happy with 50 Senate seats...even 49 were ok if it weren't for who would win the seat instead of the Dem. When I look at racist Allen, racist Corker or nutjob Talent, then we really have to get rid of all of them or they will be there for 6 years.

We might have a better chance to gain more seats in 2008, still these 3 creeps are annoying.

7. It would help. Justice Stevens is 86 and supposedly very ill...Takes 51
senate votes to block another Alito on the supreme court. The more seats we win, the better, but I agree, if we win the house with a +10 vote margin and 28 governorships, I'll be thrilled. Just beat "Dog on man" Santorum, please!

9. Having the House will be nice, but having the Senate too would be better.
Too many people don't understand and appreciate the full power and importance of the Senate with their power to approve Presidential appointees such as Supreme Court Justices who will serve for life. How many here would like to see lame duck Bush have the chance to appoint another RWer to the SC? For those who cannot seem to grasp the intricacies of the impeachment process, it is the Senate which votes to convict an impeached President. Impeachment without conviction may be a moral victory, although a bit like kissing your sister. Certainly it's a kiss, but it lacks the long sought satisfaction. Even if we won the Senate we would be far short of the 67 votes needed, but I think the Founding Fathers wanted it to be difficult.

10. Let me remind you of something.
Even if we win the Senate, that doesn't mean we have a glued unibody of Democrats casting votes. There are Democrats who are as close to republican in some of their votes as you can get.

I wouldn't put it past some of them to screw the vote even if another Supreme Court nominee came up. Which I sure hope I don't have to find out if I'm right.

But now the House, that is a freight train ready to roll right through the White House. Conyers probably has the subpoenas all addressed. Bolt cutters are going to be taken to the lock where Phase 2 has been hidden away and we will rip bush with investigations until he has a nervous breakdown. Followed by impeachment, conviction and jail in that order.

Give me the House and I'm dancin' in the clouds.

13. Any Democratic control is better than none but....
Control of the Senate would give us the ability to stop Ambassador Bolton and extreme appointments to the Supreme Court.
