54 GOP House seats in Play. Dems need 15 for control

I spent a good bit of the day looking at the House races. This is getting close to a metaphysical certainty.

I think we are going to take about 30 seats. What do you think?

1. More. We will truly pick up more.

But there will be election problems that last for months.

4. I think the republicans are goiing to learn what it's like to

have to beg almost on your knees to get a Goddammned amendment considered or even an invitation to a committee hearing.

Reams of papers thrown on your bench fifteen minutes before you have to cast your vote on what's in the papers, being ignored for motions in hearings unless you make it a Goddamn parliamentary inquiry, and all your bills rejected without any opportunity even for an up or down vote.

That's what I think is about to happen.

And remember you Goddamn republicans how it works, because you wrote the rules.

5. 54 isn't that the number of seats the Republicans won in '94?

Things were not nearly as Gerrymandered then. Still, imagine the blow felt by the Democrats in office at that time. It has taken over a decade to regain their composure and if the Republicans hadn't made it so easy for them it could have taken another decade. They were slapped down very hard and don't deserve a lot of the criticism they receive, especially from here. It is easy for us to criticize because we have nothing to lose. I truly hope and pray we get another chance to show America we have learned more about what is truly important. Maybe in the long run this last terrible decade will turn out to be a real blessing for America. America truly deserves better. We are a decent people and The Democrats really need to let the world know that if they somehow get back into majority status. I just can't take another heartbreak like the last few elections have been.

6. I have no clue how many seats we are going to pick up, but....

I'm watching c-span's coverage of debates for house seats. Right now I'm watching John Hall and am I impressed! Hall is an activist who knows the issues--and looks to represent the people rather than corporate interest--and is also ready for prime-time poised. Hall is informed, intellegent and poised, and makes the incumbent publican look silly and mean. Wow.
