OMG, what a farce! US claims Chavez rigging electronic vote in US
this is what they call, in psychoanalysis, "projection" (seeing one's own motives in someone else):

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/15869919.htm

Federal officials are investigating whether Smartmatic, owner of Oakland, Calif.-based Sequoia Voting Systems, is secretly controlled by Venezuelan President Hugo Chvez, according to two people familiar with the probe.

In July, a Treasury Department spokeswoman disclosed that a Treasury-led panel had contacted Smartmatic, and a company representative said his firm was ''in discussions'' with the panel. At the time, those discussions were informal. The government has now upgraded to a formal investigation, the two sources said.

Sequoia's electronic voting machines operate in 17 states. In Florida, the machines are used in four counties: Palm Beach, Indian River, Pinellas and Hillsborough.

Miami-Dade and Broward use other technology.

Concerns about Smartmatic are keen on the eve of the Nov. 7 election, given fears that someone with unauthorized access to the electronic system could create electoral chaos. Some critics believe that if the Venezuelan government is involved, Smartmatic could be a ''Trojan horse'' designed to advance Chavez's anti-American agenda.

1. It's so ridiculous, they just may try to use it...
as a justification for war with Venezuela and Martial Law.

14. Oh of course
They've been trying to get Chavez for a while now. This doesn't surprise me. Of course they aren't going to look into ES&S or Diebold now are they? Nah!

3. Funny, they weren't worried back in 2004, were they?
All of a sudden, it's article after article about election fraud. Get ready for the GOP outrage if they lose the Senate.

Frankly, I hope the GOP loses Congress entirely. Nobody is better at fixing a mess than a Dem.

5. Since When isn't the GOp Ridiculous
The problem is, they aren't being held responsible for their lies, and when lies go unchallenged the average Joe believes it is all true. That's why we volunteer to debunk the GOP propaganda on a daily basis. It's also why the GOP is losing their talking points strategy in the media and at the watercooler.

7. Yes, Republicans
You will lose because your crooked voting machines are controlled by an evil foreign power that gives cheap oil to the poor. Everyone knows cheap oil is only for the rich.

Perhaps you should band together and ban your crooked voting machines. That will teach that evil foreign power.

8. I guarantee there will be machines rigged by GOPs and TRACED to some Dem
who had unwittingly gotten involved by signing off an approval document or something.

This is why I wanted the DNC to hold mandatory seminars for all Dems who have any level of duties related to the election process.

machines until this investigation is complete! You know- in the interest of bipartisanship.

11. The disinformation never stops...
This particular disinformation item is aimed at two things:

1. To further demonize Hugo Chavez, who was actually in elected--in the most monitored elections on earth--the Carter Center, the OAS, EU election monitoring groups, hundreds and hundreds of election monitors, all declaring Chavez's victories honest and aboveboard. This item is aimed at sullying those elections. Further, Venezuela has OPEN SOURCE code electronic voting. Anyone may review the code. I believe that is why Venezuela owns a subsidiary of Sequoia. They had to form a subsidiary in order to provide Venezuelans with open source code, required by law, while the corporation, Sequoia--like Diebold and ES&S--"counts" OUR votes with TRADE SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming code--code so secret that not even our secretaries of state are permitted to review it. This is the joke and irony of the Bushite FBI implying that Venezuela would fiddle our elections--they don't even fiddle their own! And OUR corporations DO! (You bet your sweet life they do!)

2. The Bushiest always jump out ahead and accuse others of whatever crime they are committing--as a smokescreen, as cover. It is the practice of demagogues. It also serves the purpose of muddying the waters, confusing the public. That's what this is. It's a smokescreen to hide--cover with smoke--non-transparent, unverifiable vote counting in THIS coutry, controlled by corporations with very close ties to the Bush regime and far rightwing causes.

Hugo Chavez is a good president, seeing to the interests of his own people, and running a genuine reform government that has a strong component of social justice. The Bushites and their corporate cheerleaders in the news monopolies (controlled by five right wing billionaire CE OS) of course don't want us to know what a good president does, nor have an example of what a popularly supported president can accomplish for his people. Chavez is also a regional leader who is helping to build up South America's resistance to US corporate domination and military/drug-war oppression which, in the past, has meant the US installation of heinous dictators in Latin America. We now know that the Bush Cartel is purchasing several hundred thousand acres in Paraguay, and has used US tax dollars to build military facilities, possibly as a launching pad for destabilizing and destroying So. America's democracies and strong leftist movements. Killing peasants and leftists, torture and oppression are the mode of the Bushites. I'm guessing this is why Bush's State Dept. and its corporate media echo chamber have been vilifying Chavez for years--and why the Bushites have been pouring US taxpayer money into the Venezuelan rich oil elite opposition to unseat him.

Not Chavez, but the Gang of Evil in DC. That way if any major irregularities are discovered, they can blame it on Chavez.

18. You know what - if this gets Republican voters worried about election fraud
then good. EVERYONE should be worried about it. Who cares if their reasons are skewed? If everyone had a sense that it mattered then perhaps it will finally get addressed and we'll return to verifiable paper ballots.
