| If we don't get these war criminals out of the whitehouse soon |
|
there won't be any chance of ever doing so in our lifetime. This crew for the most part have been plotting the overthrow of our way of government for a long long time. Some go back all the way to the Nixon administration on up through the 40th and 41st presidents. All the while taking small steps toward their ultimate goal, total control.

They have looted the Treasury and enriched the monarchs even more.
They consider the US military their own corporate mercenary army.
All the dead in Iraq are just for corporate profits.

|
To be selfish, to imagine it can't happen here, to think themselves righteous, generous, what have you, to think the U.S. not only wouldn't but can't do any wrong... I just used the wrong word, "think"... What most people do in their minds shouldn't even be complimented so much as to be called "thinking".
All this, being outside either their experience or imagination ensures it's inevitability--unless there are enough people who recognize what's happening and act successfully to stop it for everyone's sake. Of course, even if catastrophe is averted, those who never recognized or admitted the problem will both benefit and not only not give credit where credit is due, probably complain about what was done to save the Republic. Can't win for losing--but we'd better win or there will be hell to pay. Sad to say, but much of America deserves an oppressive, fascist government--but the rest of the world, innocent of our misguidance, doesn't deserve what our whoppingly powerful government would then do.

...but I'm sure you're correct. Oh, Cheney might not win in '08, and the Constitution might not be amended to keep * in office, but it's entirely likely that cronies will take their places, or that almost equally corporatist Dems will. At the very least, the * papers will be locked away from any possible review, while TV talking heads sing us to sleep with the "get over it" lullaby.
A Democratic majority in either or both houses would be just a small step toward undoing the real damage.

The fascists will never be dislodged peacefully in our lifetime. their stranglehold on the media will prevent us from restoring democracy w/o burning it to the ground.
Read The Turner Diaries some time. Though the setting is different of course, the government described there is so similar to this one it is bone-chilling. He also notes that many, MANY people are happy living in a dictatorship - if they weren't, it could never have gotten such a foothold.

I am so sorry to have to say that. We are oppressed and too stupid to realize it. We are powerless and I am terrified this election will once again shatter all our delusions. God, please may I proven wrong. I pray I may dine upon crow the eighth!

The more Bush subverts the law and constitution of this land, the more evidence he creates against himself. Don't ask me why, but I do feel he and all his minions will come to be held accountable in a court of law. And if we think we know the dirt they're doing now, wait until it all comes out.

| 9. Let's call "total control" by its better known name TOTALITARIANISM |
|
Edited on Sat Oct-28-06 08:58 AM by HereSince1628
This is what we are up against. It is the same one-party control that existed in all those terrible enemies we despised, cursed and openly fought during the cold-war and WWII. .
Totalitarianism can occur on the right or the left. It's tyranny disguised as Republic.
We needn't call Bush a Nazi or a Fascist. He is a REPUBLICAN, it's enough to name him what he claims he is. The Unitary Executive, leader of a party captured by a renegade totalitarian movement that has openly sought to achieve total control of all the institutions of US government and to maintain that control for posterity. Only briefly have they had a semblance of total control of the offices, lobbying money, and media, and they have already thoroughly corrupted themselves and our Constitutional government.
The awful lesson of the past 4 centuries is that totalitarianism being total control, is not easy to overcome. It is a common pitfall of nations casting off the tyranny of monarchy. Our nation avoided this pitfall that was suffered by so many democratic movements through the notion of a balance of power, and guaranteed freedoms that insure opposition has a voice and minorities can seek justice.
Cheney has destroyed these things, and his rubber-stamping party members are establishing their capitalist dictatorship of the robber barons. We are in the pit of totalitarianism, and we must reject digging deeper and deeper until we cannot escape.
We MUST restore what the Founders intended as an heirloom to be protected, improved, and passed to the future. We must do it. NOW.
