Since you lurk here, Mr. Limbaugh, you might read this.

My wife has Parkinson's Disease. Stem cell research will be a blessing to her, and if not to her, then perhaps to her children and grandchildren. We don't know how people get PD, but one of the ongoing theories is that the tendency to get PD is hereditary.

I have seen her shake, Mr. Limbaugh. She has a tremor that at times can be pronounced. Her tremor is not as bad at that displayed by Mr. Fox in the ad that upsets you, but some people have it worse than he does.

Ask Milton Kondracke, who's no liberal. He'll tell you all about it. His wife, Millie, had PD, too. In fact, she had Parkinson's plus, a very debilitating form of PD. Mr. Kondracke wrote a book about Millie's fight with the disease, which I recommend to you.

That's a funny thing about diseases. A disease doesn't care about the political ideology of it host.

Mr. Limbaugh, you have no reason to believe that Mr. Fox was faking anything. You have no reason to believe a lot of what you say and perhaps many good reasons not. But slandering Hillary Clinton is one thing that we've come to expect of you, slandering the victim of a progressive, degenerative disease is another thing altogether. You have simply allowed your hatred of Mr. Fox -- and not so much of Mr. Fox as his personal beliefs -- to run away with your imagination.

It doesn't bother me that you don't agree with him or with me or with my wife on the issue of stem cell research. After all, that's your right. Besides, you haven't changed any minds in twenty years. I don't listen to your program; I leave that to the choir to whom you preach and to the morbidly curious, some of whom pass on your outrageous nonsense to rest of us at DU. I don't see you as a threat.

What bothers me is that you have gone after a victim of a disease. It's like making light of a cancer patient of one recovering from heart surgery. My mother taught me not to make light of any person in that situation, no matter who he was. She taught me to be supportive of such people. I know of a radio personality who has a serious problem with prescription drugs; while I can't stand him, I wish him the best fortune in kicking his habit. It is wrong to belittle the suffering of such people.

You owe Mr. Fox an apology, sir. You owe him and my wife and all who suffer from PD an apology.

If you are big enough, Mr. Limbaugh, you may use this space to apologize. It will be the first time for me and many others at DU will feel any respect for you, but it indeed be an act worthy of respect.

There ARE ways of making his pay. We have done it, Takebackthemedia.com boycotted Limbaugh very effectively along with MANY DU'RS who spread the word. When we boycotted it was because Poloidnal CYSTBOY (and gee wouldn't it be bad if that CYST somehow metastisized into something more malignant than Limbaugh himself?) had called all anti war protesters "commies, marxists, and unamerican", and being a Veteran this pissed me off mightily, so with others here I organized a LARGE boycott..

He lost Radio Shack, See's Candies, AmTrack, Red Lobster, Geico, and LOTS of other corps advertising dollars, about 4 or 5 major businesses dropped their ad dollars the SAME AFTERNOON the boycott was begun, it was just that quick. I have a feeling we easily cost him hundreds of thousands if not in the Million dollar range or more.

I believe it's time for another boycott, and there couldn't be a better time - I wish I could help again, but am too busy at this time with another project (maybe after that I can), if I did have the Time THIS POST by you would be all I needed to go after that bastard again.

Within days of boycotting this sorry excuse for a human being I was on both the O'Reilly show AND Scarborough's and we got some great shots in on this guy and them all -- FOLEY was one of the guests on Scarborough, much to my disgust, during that same show I demanded as a Vietnam Era Veteran that Limbaugh RELEASE his ENLISTMENT PAPERS, to show his patriotism for his country. Many people started demanding that afterwards, and if it was possible to SHAME this bag of Excrement we may have done that, but doubtful since he has no shame.. but it was also effective and frightened them.

You have to take away their MONEY to FORCE them to act Human, even Gandi knew that.

If anyone has the time to take up the Torch and begin another boycott of all of Limbaugh's advertisers, I would think there is no better time after his remarks, his VILE attitude towards suffering. I wish Michael J. Fox would SUE him for this.

Personally, I don't take Limbaugh seriously. As I said in the root post, he doesn't change minds. His regular listeners are already convinced and nothing you or I will say will persuade them otherwise. They will vote Republican even if Bush murders their children and they don't really need Rush Limbaugh to persuade them to do so.

Three or four times a week, somebody who listens to Limbaugh ("so you won't have to") post some outrageous thing he says. Sometimes I will put a sarcastic remark on the thread, most of the time I simply chuckle sardonically and move on.

I believe in democracy. To me, that means supporting a set of guaranteed civil liberties that encourage citizens to speak out on civic affairs. The dark side of that is that we put up with pornography and Rush Limbaugh. I am willing to put up with those things so I can say that Bush and Cheney are a war criminals who should impeached and removed from office at the earliest opportunity.

And I'd add that "that line" is exactly what Limbaugh has been doing. He has been a hardcore promoter of the Bush regime for ages. He still is. Even the drug abuse line doesn't hurt him any more. As you may recall (if you ever got away from your computer with your fiery letters to the editor) in the movie "V for Vendetta" there was a journalist character clearly modeled on Limbaugh. Did V write a letter to the editor? Yes, but only after killing the son of a bitch.

I wouldn't go that far; it's impossible to embarass a corpse. But with dedicated supporters, it would be possible to collect evidence to end Limbaugh's career and make him the biggest negative example for anyone who hoped to follow in his shoes.

My point is, none of you want to take effective action against the right wing, any more than Kerry carried through on recounting votes and investigating fraud in 2004. And your reluctance is why the Republicans will win the 2006 election, and the 2008 election, and won't worry about 2012 because they'll have suspended elections by then.

Limbaugh is famous for railing on about diseases he does not understand and labeling them as bogus. He's equated ADD to toenail fungus, stating that they are equally unimportant. Prior to his own problem, he stamped drug addicts as losers who made their own decisions and deserving of maximum prosecution of the law.

I always assumed that his callous insensitivity was due simply to never having experienced any of these first hand. I was certain that if he had raised an ADD child, witnessed the despair of drug dependency, or suffered the misfortune of a physical disability, then he would have an awakening to reality. Instead, he used his money and influence to wiggle his way out of any repercussions for his drug problems and was able to afford very expensive surgery to correct a hearing disorder. And what did he gain from these experiences? Nothing.

Limbaugh's insensitivity, clearly, is not because of a lack of experience.

He's simply a horrible person.

These accusations are seriously disgusting.

I watched my grandfather struggle with the disease for 18 of the 21 years of my life that he was alive (I'm now 22, he died last year), and watched him slowly and painfully lose his ability to speak, to feed himself, to walk, and to play the music to which he had devoted his entire life. To imply that Parkinson's can be used by ANYONE as a BENEFIT for themselves is one of the most absurd and offensive things that can be said.

I don't want an apology from Limbaugh. Watching him show some sign of humanity is nothing compared to watching him maintain his current facade of indifference, while knowing that he will have to live with and stand by his words and actions forever. But here's hoping for that apology. He needs to make it, after making fun of Mr. Fox like that. I have more respect for Michael J. Fox than Limbaugh, as Michael seems to demonstrate more integrity than Rush. Perhaps Michael should run for political office himself.... or strongly support someone who is.

     Maybe Californians can understand the problems that
Limbaugh gives them.  I think that the whole problem of drug
use is a complicated one.
     I think maybe the main problem is lack of openness in
the media, and we should wait for the problem to work itself
out.
     I think at this time, it's California that is central to
the electoral process.  Mainly after that is the likely
situation to wind up the Democrats success.  Good Luck.

100. Limbaugh started this crap Monday and then did damage control

all day Tuesday. His "off the meds" remark wasn't the worst of it. That's what he wants everyone to think is all he said. He started the whole thing by accusing Micheal Fox of acting and exaggerating. He even used the words "moving all over the place". Limbaugh did quite the setup: playing an audio clip of the ad, and asking if the audience could guess what Fox was doing visually as he spoke. "He's either acting or off his meds" is a pretty close paraphrase of what the compassionate Mr.Limbaugh said. It was only after "the harmless fuzzball" received calls and emails that he dropped the accusations and went with the "off the meds" approach. It was very apparent that LimBlah at first wanted to smear Fox as a phony who was acting out the effects of PD. It just didn't work out like Rushbo wanted it to.

Jack Rabbit, you were right to write this post. My best to you and your wife. I can only guess what it must be like for you and her. Rush Limbaugh(spit on ground after saying that name), who claims his talent is "on loan from God", owes you, your wife, Mr. Fox, America and God many apologies.
