Paul, George, and Keith
Many years ago one of the most magical times ever on television
happened on the original "Saturday Night Live Show," George Harrison
and Paul Simon walked out and performed, "Homeward Bound & Hear Comes the Sun," live
on a national show.

I turned off the t.v. for months after that knowing that I
would never get that feeling again from the tube.

Can it be all those years have past?
I look in the mirror and the answer is yes ... my son turned 12 and
the times he "snuggles w/ his dad for warmth" are becoming rare
yet no complaints on my part .... the journey still has interest and I
still feel "fire for the battle," Keith Olbermann touched that fire tonight.

Thanx Keith!

1. I get goosebumps just seeing the pic in the OP. I remember that.
KO is helping me feel the fire too.

Homeward Bound. And Here Comes the Sun.

2. From one old dog to another
I'm sitting in the railway station.
Got a ticket for my destination.
On a tour of one-night stands my suitcase and guitar in hand.
And ev'ry stop is neatly planned for a poet and a one-man band.
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.
Ev'ry day's an endless stream
Of cigarettes and magazines.
And each town looks the same to me, the movies and the factories
And ev'ry stranger's face I see reminds me that I long to be,
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.

Tonight I'll sing my songs again,
I'll play the game and pretend.
But all my words come back to me in shades of mediocrity
Like emptiness in harmony I need someone to comfort me.
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.
Silently for me.

Here Comes The Sun

(George Harrison)

Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Little darlin' it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darlin' it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Little darlin' the smiles returning to their faces
Little darlin' it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Little darlin' I feel the ice is slowly meltin'
Little darlin' it seems like years since it's been clear
Here come the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Here come the sun, here comes the sun
It's all right, it's all right

5. Re-reading that makes me realize that
I'd forgotten how good it was. How good it is.

7. That was such a great moment.
I enjoyed that as well despite the tears.
Lately when has SNL had such a real moment as that with no pretention?

8. Dear Botany, what wonderful memories you brought back for me
Edited on Mon Oct-23-06 11:19 PM by cry baby
with your post - it certainly gave me goosebumps remembering those songs and Paul Simon dressed as a Thanksgiving turkey. Keith's courage as one speaking truth to power, directly to power since he speaks directly to bush in his comments, is inspirational to me as well.

May he light the fire in all of us!

A great version of my favorite Beatles song.

I agree, Keith is at the top of his game, just as Paul and George were then. Goosebumps.
